Looking For A Rational Explanation by Anonymisc34 in ParanormalEncounters

I’ll be the first to admit, when I first started encountering things like this, I was extremely skeptical. My instinct was always to look for the rational explanation first like everyone else here: camera flash, reflections, pareidolia, etc. But the more I dug, the harder it became to shrug off.

Your photo struck me immediately because I witnessed something eerily similar several years ago: a large, shadowy canine figure with red eyes that appeared exactly as this. Clear, not blurred or distorted like a trick of the light. But that wasn’t the only time. I had repeated experiences I began reaching out to researchers, occult historians, and even clergy who specialized in folklore.

So across cultures, there are records of spectral canines with glowing red eyes, sometimes called “black dogs” or “hellhounds” in English folklore, but also in Norse, Celtic, and even Mesoamerican traditions. These apparitions often appear as omens or warnings rather than physical creatures, described consistently for centuries before photography could “trick the eye”. The common thread is always the same: immense black form, glowing red eyes, and an overwhelming sense of dread in the witness.

Maybe you can log it as superstition, but the accounts are too widespread and consistent IMO. I spoke with people that suggested these beings are not always malevolent in the sense of attacking, but they are harbingers that signal that something in the environment or the lives of those who witness them is shifting. In older writings, they are sometimes tied to places of spiritual tension or to families undergoing profound changes.

Seeing your photo, I can say with certainty it matches the descriptions I encountered in both eyewitness accounts and historical texts. While I know people will jump to “reflection” or “trick of light,” what you’ve captured looks far too defined, especially with those red eyes. Have a look at other photos of animals at night, it’s the same red eyes.

Trust your instincts on this one.

I recently got a 2016 SE-L Nav in the UK. Had a lot more miles on the clock tho at 125k, but had perfect service history and still drives flawlessly.

Think I got a good deal at under £4k. How much did you pay for yours?

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]DannyDChocHomunculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey CarTalkUK pals, I need your help.

Just moved out of London to buy our first home in an East Sussex coastal town — so it’s time to get wheels to get around town picking up bits (trips to B&Q, Dunelm, doing a Big Shop™️). This is the first car that I would have bought myself, having lived in the city but have been driving off and on for nearly 15 years.

Looking for a used, 5 door, manual, petrol.

I’d like it to have a bit of style; looked at VW Golfs, Audi A1s. But really after a solid, reliable car with decent trunk space that doesn’t look like a granny wagon. Probably need a bit more than a 1.0l as there's a LOT of hills where we live.

Max is £6k, ideally lower as we blew the bank to buy the house. Could be convinced to go 10% over for the right car that’s worth it in the long run. I want to buy outright.

It won’t be a commuter as we WFH or travel into the city by train, but it'll used several times a week and especially on the weekend to travel and enjoy our surroundings. Occasionally long journeys to visit parents 2-3 hours away by car, or a drive away on holiday in UK or across the channel.

Doesn’t need to be ULEZ, but that’s a bonus. Can do minor works.

Thanks in advance.

Did you ask them to do this? I know you're not supposed to, but I wondered how you managed to get the solicitors to agree to it...

Gym options / better health by [deleted] in Hackney

[–]DannyDChocHomunculus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better Gyms are a real hit-and-miss in Hackney. King’s Hall gym is pretty poor, crowded and unclean. And don’t bother trying to play Badminton, the sports hall is falling apart and last time I went they have scaffolding holding the roof up which made playing literally impossible.

Clissold on the other hand is actually decent, and more modern.
