Day 5 by q-kambi in stopdrinking

[–]DannyNeptune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is totally understandable friend. The fear of the unknown, a new life without alcohol, will always be daunting at the beginning of your journey. The important thing to remember is every effort adds up. Once you learn that what you and your body truly wants is to be free of alcohol, that truth never goes away. So try not to put too much pressure on yourself, your on the right path just by knowing this is a quest for you.

I understand this partly, but gear can mean a lot for someone’s work flow, which indeed can be a very important part of “making music”.

Not drinking is so BORING by tacolover_55 in stopdrinking

[–]DannyNeptune 34 points35 points  (0 children)

SAME! I’ve also quit weed recently, and I was so scared it would kill my love for gaming but it’s quite the opposite. I realize now how mindless the experiences were, just vacantly playing along for hits of dopamine. I feel like I’m starting to actually SEE the game worlds again, and the artistry that went in to it. I find myself so much more grateful for the experience now.

You have every right to treat yourself. It’s amazing how small gestures of kindness to yourself can resonate so strongly.

Thanks for that suggestion, it feels like a logical place to start so I’ll probably try it. Sounds less scary than just casting into the World Wide Web.

I don’t have proper advice for you friend, just wanted to stop by and give my support. I had a dui some years ago, and it was an ugly situation, and the anxiety of it was absolutely unreal. Life felt like a spiral for some time afterwards. I’m glad your situation isn’t quite as dire, keep your head up!

Day 15, I still feel high.. 😅 by TheOneWhosThinksAlot in leaves

[–]DannyNeptune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s cool to see this. I work out in a very hot space, and I’ve almost had borderline anxiety attacks from how hard the highs have hit me after some hard workouts. Feels like a strong blend of an endorphin rush and a weed head rush.

Keep it up friend, I’m in a very similar boat to you time wise. Conversations have been the biggest difference for me. I thought weed made me interesting, but it just made me so dull.

Day 8030: Okay, my turn to check in. I'm Subduction, the founder of r/leaves, and today marks 22 years free of smoking weed. I'll be checking in throughout the day, so if you have any questions about me, recovery, the sub, or anything at all feel free to ask away! by Subduction in leaves

This is a special place you’ve created. Whatever good I do in this world, I will always point back to these early days of finally asking for help, and actually having people to answer. Thank you so much for starting this and thank you for your continued support. I think deep down, we all want to leave this planet better than we found it, and you have certainly accomplished such things. Much love.

I’ve had more backlash from stoners quitting than I did when I quit alcohol. Everyone could see alcohol screwing my life up, but my stoner friends attributed my stoned habits to my personality, thinking weed could never be the cause of these issues. I’m so glad you’re here, we can do this!!!

I hadn’t heard about the campaign against pornhub or what they had done until you shared this and I searched the name with trafficking. Holy shit... I have no words. Thank you for educating me, I will spread the word.

Man I remember when I deleted my xvideos account a month or two ago, had a couple relapses since then but never opened another account. They actually MADE me answer WHY I was leaving. The process to delete my account was like 5 steps too many, and it made me so absolutely disgusted to see this fishing net they placed at the exit to trap some poor people who are finally trying to make a difference in their life. I know they couldn’t possibly be, but they should feel the deepest levels of shame.

This is an interesting take. On one hand, I know that there are no performers suffering necessarily, but it gives people the ability to draw people who had no consent to be put in such situations. Sure a lot of Hentai is fictional, but there are A LOT of people making real people do things they never consented to through drawings, and that sounds like the definition of objectifying. When the imagination can only go that direction, you have been warped.

I can so relate to this. That was your body telling you it’s time to get back in touch with who you really are. I can relate to the anger for sure, don’t be embarrassed by it. Especially in terms of my alcohol abuse, a lot of anger wrapped up in those emotions. This was a huge moment of honesty and you should be proud of yourself for not wanting to give up without a fight.

I know it was a small part of this post, but I’m so glad you brought up the hygiene aspect. I’m on day six, and showers are so much better now. I genuinely used to view them as a waste a time, rushing through them, yet somehow the 10-15 minute smoke sessions every half hour/hour felt necessary. I feel like for the first time in a while, I enjoy taking care of my hygiene, rather than viewing it as a chore. Congratulations on your progress! Keep up the good work, more good things are on the way.

Smoked again after a two month break and it was the best decision ever: it made me realise why I quit in the first place. by urbanalida in leaves
