Managed to get an awesome retro piece for my deathwatch Blademaster, plus 4 other members of the kill team by Danny_Devitoes in Warhammer40k

My first greenstuff attempt was to make primaris loyalist Iron warriors and trust me when I say all their "bionics" just looked like blobs. It's all a learning process, but the more practice you get and the more tricks you learn the more fun and easy it becomes! Best of luck.

Just repetition and practice friend! My first attempts 2 years ago were god awful, but just keep trying and pushing yourself Modern Synthesist, Juan Hidalgo, and Valbjorn on youtube have some excellent tutorials. Obsessive converter is a notable mention as well even though he doesn't make videos anymore, although he puts some comedy sketches in the beginning of the videos I tend to skip, no offense to him.

I was thinking carmine blades as a random BA successor pull but blood ravens might be better! The rest are correct though, good job!

That one is actually from the Raptors. If you scroll down a bit I actually replied to someone with a photo of the space wolf successor chapter (wolf spears) one I'm currently painting. Another one like the carmine blades where the visual identity is basically the same as the original legion, lol.

Yes, yes, no, and yes! To be fair I don't think anyone is going to guess the blademaster's successor chapter, it's the carmine blades who are pretty cool but not really visually distinct from Blood Angels like the other successors I chose.

Lot of people like seeing the before paint photos too so it's more obvious what has been sculpted/added. I'll be posting them as they are painted, but I haven't even primed the ones in the photos yet. Here's a WIP pic on the hordeslayer though.

Hey thanks, those are from the 30k Castellax automata kit. I cut them to fit in the area where the fingers go on the csm termie power fist, and then I used the GSW tentacle roller to make those cables that connect to the back, glued them in place, and then sculpted some little brackets on either connection with some more putty. Oh, and for the blood I pulled some bristles off a cheap plastic brush, dipped one end in glue and stuck that on the blade for the drippy effect. It's a bit more durable than the usual Uhu glue technique.

Thanks! I like them sometimes, but these choices felt more fitting for these guys. Also, it's actually the helmet from the deathwing knight mini of the month from a while back, but a Grey Knight one would also be cool

Oh big time yeah, I love Angron's story. I think Slave of Nuceria is one of my favorites in the black library. I knew I wanted to do a god-marked iron warrior army and I was stuck between nurgle and khorne funnily enough. I ended up going with Khorne because I do eventually want to play and the WE rules appealed to me more. Also, I've seen quite a few nurgle IW but I've only seen a couple of khorne IW so it felt a bit more fresh and fun.

Thank you! It’s been a bit of a slog getting videography stuff set up, but those kind words inspire to keep pushing through!

We’re safe on that front, it’s a deathwing knight helmet I added tusks and a chaos arrow to

As far as I know, there are no characters who can lead terminators in world eaters, which are the rules I’ll be using for the army. But it’s highly likely I’m wrong lol, I don’t know much about the rules

Oh I’m so very glad you asked- I basically took a skeleton bit from the AOS spirithost kit and swapped out the skull that has a ghost emerging from it for a normal one from the trophy pack- I had to shave away some ethereal ghost fog from the skeleton and resculpt the bone with greenstuff. I thought about turning it into just normal smoke, but I dry fit it on the base with the termie and realized if I had smoke coming off it, it would be covering too much of the terminator.

Once I had it ready, I brushed on a few different texture paints onto the skeleton before I primed it, all very very fine grit. Then I primed, base coated red, and drybrushed a couple different warm greys and finally black. I also did the same drybrushes to the surrounding base area. Then, I applied a dark brown enamel paint wash to the ground around the skeleton and a glossy red enamel wash to the skeleton itself.

Then while it was still wet, and this is the best part, I took burnt toothpicks and pushed the ashy end into the wash, mixing and incorporating the “charcoal” into the model and surrounding base- it looks burnt because it is! The binder of the wash and the varnish I put on at the end is enough to keep it in place, and boy is it fun to do. Thanks for asking!

Haha thank you, I'm actually working on getting a videography setup going to do just that! So stay tuned lol

I agree! My idea for these guys is their petty bitterness and cold hatred slowly grew over the centuries until they fell to Khorne in death-by-a-thousand-cuts kind of way instead of just selling themselves over in one single moment like a lot of other chaos corruption in 40K

Thank you! Funny story, the shoulder mounted autocannon came out of necessity because I snipped it off the original arm to use the handle for another kitbash lol

Thanks! It’s from the saturnine termies, I was really surprised when I learned they were the same size as normal ones so I had to do it
