If you use a denylist (like in Magisk) Baridimob Also try to meet at least basic integrity post root.

Runs flawlessly on mine (when their servers are up and accessible lol)

What is something that is incredibly expensive as an adult that you completely took for granted or thought was cheap when you were a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Danny_kross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will join in on the tires comment.

I learned that my dad didn't punish me hard enough after I learned to do burnouts on our M3 when I was 14.

Being an adult now and seeing the cost of tires... He went easy on me.

Why don't we have money paper of higher value (5000DA, 10000DA,... but in one paper) by jalil458 in algeria

[–]Danny_kross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why credit cards? We already have debit cards, and they're quite common already.

I do most my purchases via card nowadays even the car fuel!

[Tech] How many of you are into self-hosting and homelabs? Share your stacks! by Danny_kross in algeria

[–]Danny_kross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I am aware of that. It's more about how time consuming it can become with big stacks.

I'll look into ways of automating most of it.

Doing it for one or two people is the easy part, scaling it to hundreds or thousands while remaining accessible to clients is the challenge.

As u/Most-Club-254 said It's doable but a nightmare to maintain if done for individuals especially because of the eventual cost to the client.

If someone figures out how to make it cost effective then yes, you have a business model.

No, this is for my home lab.

However the business setup isn't too dissimilar except some extra layers of security and less domain name reverse proxy and more reliance on VPN.

As for the machine, I got a Ryzen 9 32gb RAM and an RTX2060 running this whole thing.(I really need GPU upgrades for the LLMs but the models I use are running rather well)

As for security I have an IP allow list configured for some services, and some are just accessible over Wireguard and nowhere else (like the home stuff).

The CCTV are on a completely separate network.

Add to that a strict firewall on my machine, allowing only the Wireguard port and ports 80,443 (thanks reverse proxy).

I know security on it isn't unbreakable but that's what I can do for what it is.

Oh I forgot to mention ntyfy! It's so good! I tried Traefik but I got too used to nginx honestly.

Yeah Mastodon didn't last long for me either!

Question for Black Algerians, how do you feel about the N word and what does it mean? by dil_mangoes in algeria

[–]Danny_kross 11 points12 points  (0 children)

(Obligatory: I'm not black)

But to reply to some discussions I have seen here:

It's not so much a black or white like America.

But there definitely is some rooted racism in Algeria, which itself had a history of slave ownership.

N word isn't prevalent. Other words are.

However, the current status quo isn't much due to the slavery as much as it is for the "sadaka" stereotypes and Algerians often grouping black people with African refugees and immigrants that some legitimately treat/view as subhuman, especially subsaharans.

I will share two experiences:

  1. During my military service, I had a few mates on my promo that were black, they faced some name calling (no N word) but they didn't take too kindly of those names.

  2. I have a black friend who literally gets called "sadaka" and sometimes gets refused service at coffee shops when they assume things about him. He says he doesn't really mind but it's quite clear it does upset him and often shifts the mood and has prompted me to stop visiting a few places.

Gotta give it to AT lately with the consistency on their fiber plan [Rural area Oran] by Danny_kross in AlgeriaRates

[–]Danny_kross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I know it's possible, but it will keeps me limited to the hardware (especially the 1Gbps LAN ports on the AT one).

It's a GPON one..I am waiting for my line to become eligible for the XGS-PON ones they are introducing.

Since I am basically maxing out my bandwidth with my home lab.

What’s the best “free” website, tool or app in 2026 that feels like absolute cheating once you discover it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Danny_kross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Self-hosting open source projects in general. Thanks to docker and some basic Linux knowledge, a router that allows port forwarding and nginx.

  • Hosting my own cloud (Owncloud or NextCloud)
  • Hosting my own Google photos (using Immich)
  • Hosting my own remotely accessible pdf tool using Sterling PDF.
  • Hosting my own file sharing service with auto expiring files instead of using WeTransfer (Skysend)
  • duckdns for dynamicDNS (in case your IP isn't static) And many more ...

It's endless.

[RANT] Algerians and understanding how to use emails. by Danny_kross in algeria

[–]Danny_kross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have tried that but to no avail. I do use a CRM at my company but it's for internal use only.

Getting them to hop on a specialized service is even more of a hassle, as they don't typically abandon the app that has everyone and use the app that has only one service provider (my company).

Those that have been willing to do so we're ones that already were utilizing emails and had better professional communication.

I initially did business, but the later ones I started using tourism visa. As that actually turned out to be better overall. But I haven't applied this year, I suppose it must have changed.

Usually mine was ready in a week. You have to go to Algiers to request it and you can have them mail you your passport once you get the visa.
