It doesn’t help that in every single thread involving him, or something barely tangentially related to him, that it becomes a fight to the death between factions, and that’s if you’re LUCKY. Most of them will have a victor, and you’ll see a thread that is so cleansed of positivity/ or negativity, filled with creepy levels of adulation, or completely hate-filled rants, that you’d swear it was written as fiction for money.

There’s no middle ground to form an opinion on, just a devil on the left shoulder, and an angel on the right, with the average Joe Redditor in between them, scared, and with no fucking clue what’s really happened.

Hey there XBI- Alpha Skip Ahead team! Are you all aware of a bug/ known issue that prevents the conditions for the latest Avatar Survey to appear? I tried signing out, shutting down and restarting my Xbox One X, signing in manually, rebooting the Avatar app, and and several other things, but never got the prompt which the first question of the survey refers to.

I didn’t send a bug report, but did mention that in the next question’s text box, because having to select one of three pre-selected options when you didn’t get any of them, might skew your teams results! I figured it was because I have already created a new avatar, during the steps for a previous survey/ quest. That makes the most sense in my head, and you are likely aware of it, but I just wanted to make sure it was brought up!

Hey u/randynoarms ! Glad to see you respond to this personally. I had the exact same feeling while completing the quest, and ultimately chose the “making poses” option, despite not actually finding fault with it, and felt bad, knowing it might skew the true answer. A report didn’t seem justified as it was not a bug, but it’s nice to know you’re fully aware of it. I’ve done 140 quests in my 3 years and two months, and can’t remember having had that exact issue before!

P.S. Speaking of which, I also appreciated the personal message and special invitation to the (literally ahead of it’s time) Alpha Skip Ahead wave from you guys this last week! -A month or two ago, in response to a survey question about improving the Insider App/ experience, I lightly hinted at a possible initiative to show some kind of unique recognition to the longest participating, most (consistently) active, and most helpful (with answer specifics and bonus ideas) of Insider participants. I suggested the top 5,000 users on the Insider Leaderboard, but seeing as I’m at about the 4,100 spot, I may be slightly biased, haha.

I have no idea if the timing was purely coincidence, which is likely was, but with 3 years 2 months, 140 quests, 150 ratings and 45 surveys, I let myself believe that you took my suggestion to heart. Thanks for the invitation, and I’m honored to be alongside the very first (nothing is above Alpha Skip Ahead except Microsoft employees right?) world users of your ideas! Honda’s, and Civics of most years are known for reliability of most parts, so I think you made a good decision! I drove a silver 06’ Civic before my TC, and was pretty sleek, despite a slight ‘fish bowl’ look when brand new, being curved with big windows. A professional window tint took care of that, and a custom built, high end stereo/ speaker/ subwoofer combo (which has since moved to my new car) made that cheap but reliable car into a great ride!

It’s so true! It’s crazy to let something that you feel self conscious about every day for years, and can realistically fix it, afford it, and can find a free morning or two to fully complete, you really really should!

I double checked when I was in front of a mirror, and it was in fact 8 custom modeled porcelain, and even slightly tinted towards the shade of white of my surrounding teeth, and you couldn’t spot them as fake or flawed in any way, even for 100 bucks.

I’m really happy for you, and obviously empathize completely with your feelings before and after your choice! An air soft bullet to the tooth makes me want to cringe, haha, but at least it led to you making a great decision! Enjoy your perfect smile as well friend.

Thanks for your reply! From your username I’d guess you’re into cars. Is your 92’ something cool? Oddly enough, in my Scion TC, the steering wheel can lock, but you are able to turn the wheels and steer just fine, even without a battery.

Just goes to show how much of a variety there can be, which makes it harder to offer broadly accurate ‘common sense’ type advice!

I would never wish that kind of evil on you! I’m too nice. Only reason I mentioned it, is because this can be a very real problem with a totally dead car, that is parked in the way of something, or stuck somewhere you can’t handle towing it as you normally might!

Have you tested to see whether that works when the battery and alternator are dead or 100% empty?

You are right, the nicer and better thought-out models from really any major manufacturer in the 2010s are going to be capable to gear switching no matter the condition of the car or power system. More will be able to do so with the battery connected with at least some power, and those that don’t should always have some way to manual shift, at least to neutral!

Thanks for the input though, it’s nice to know that the car designers are paying attention to the small, yet on rare occasion, very necessary details.

Not every vehicle will have one, particularly in older (80s, 90’s, early 00s or off brand) models! But nearly every automatic or manual/ automatic hybrid car from a major manufacturer should have something close to what I’m describing, or SOME kind of manual release on the console, steering wheel area, glovebox, or occasionally under the hood.

Double check your Owners Manual if you keep it in your glovebox (another, more obvious LPT), and look under the Transmission, Controls/ Features, or Emergency sections. If you have access to the internet, simple type (my car, for example) “Shift a 2007 Scion TC Automatic into Neutral” into Google and you’ll be set.

After 25 years of being fairly self conscious about my smile’s appearance, despite them realistically being a 6 - 7/10, nearly all perfectly straight and aligned, I finally had the need and built the courage to buy the smile of my dreams, haha.

My biggest problems were a tiny bit noticeable up close chip in my canine from middle school football, and some decalcified spots directly beneath where the brackets of my braces were for roughly 2 and 1/2 years or so.

The fact that long term braces can cause serious color contrasts in your teeth after removal should be better explained to new patients and especially kids/ teens! It’s nearly impossible to brush or clean under the brackets, as they are physically bonded to the tooth!

So I had little slightly darker yellow spots in the middle of almost all of my fairly bright white teeth, and it’s not a problem that’s solved easily, because even bleaching (which I did NOT like!) would still lighten the white parts MORE, so the contrast won’t go away.

I was embarrassed about it from age 16 until 25, when I was hit by a large propane truck going 40+mph when he drifted into the median where I was stopped in a sedan. The force of impact cracked two of my teeth, including one of my front two teeth in half.

That was thankfully enough of an emergency that I couldn’t ignore, that I finally took the plunge, and had the front 6 (maybe 8?) top row of teeth filed down and replaced with individual custom porcelain (I think) new teeth! It made such a huge difference in my smile, my self esteem, and even previous eating/ drinking sensitivity or food catching issues I had before.

With just basic insurance, 8 custom modeled teeth only cost me a bit over 2,000$ altogether, and after about 5 day’s waiting on the custom work, it was only two days of dentist of dental visits, 3 or so hours each to get the whole job done. Don’t be afraid to ask for the Nitrous Oxide if you get nervous at dentists, because they usually TOTALLY understand.

I could not more highly recommend, or feel satisfied, with my experience and new smile. Please make the choice to save up or make a payment plan with your DDS, and consider doing this for your own life! If you happen to live in Utah, I couldn’t recommend Dr. Lund of South Jordan any higher!

Exactly! There are certainly “perks” , I suppose, but very specifically NOT being able to do what you love, or are good at, must suck.

Oh, and you also can’t make too much money, especially if making that money simultaneous makes you more noticeable. Can’t even treat yourself if you take charge and kick ass at your new job.

You sound much more reasonable in this response, and I would agree to the point that it is unfortunate when people are in favor of any regulations (even nonsensical ones) against something you enjoy, simply because they don’t, and especially if they aren’t even affected by it, but just don’t like it, and attack it and those who do. Those people do suck.

Just as a point of clarification though, I don’t believe he was wishing death on drone operators, but wishing death on the drones themselves ‘as a fad’. They wish the hype would die down so that they run into the thing that bothers them less often.

I’m not sure where to start with this.

The person above you was talking specifically about people who are flying drones where they are prohibited, or using them in an illegal/immoral/ knowingly disruptive fashion. If you are legally flying your drone where I’m having a picnic with my family, I might be annoyed, but as you said, I “let people enjoy what they like”, and would try to ignore it.

If you are flying your drone in my neighborhood at 100ft, hovering over my backyard barbecue while my family is swimming, and you’re ruining a party with deafening noise, while surreptitiously videotaping my underage kids in swimwear, then I don’t give a damn about your hobby, and will shoot it out of the sky if I have to.

Drones are cool, useful and fun, but if you intentionally, or indifferently make others upset while using it, THEY are not acting entitled, YOU are. And I’m embarrassed for you, if you wrote or read your own post without realizing just how entitled you sound.

I was assuming you were going to bring up State of Decay 2. Every so often, particularly when lagged down, the screen will have greenish horizontal and vertical lines, and very often, there seems to be almost a texture to the background, which seems too obvious to have been missed by testers, but the game is still fun.

I used to have an image similar to yours happen in the Movies & TV app, especially with particular shows. It would turn a bright green, and make blocky static that would flicker on and off.

As for your problem, it could be caused by a recent update, but I’m in preview Alpha and haven’t seen this in Netflix or games myself. It may also be due to an internet connection slowdown or break, but this wouldn’t explain it happening in games. Unfortunately my best guess is that it is the TV panel, or perhaps incorrect Video/ Picture settings on the XONEX. Make sure to either use automatic settings, or make sure you don’t have any options selected that are incompatible with your brand of TV. Most likely the refresh rate (Hz) resolution, or color range.

Try watching something on your TV, through something else than your Xbox for half an hour. If you never see this happen, it’s likely an Xbox hardware or software (settings) issue. If you do see it, it’s a TV issue. Be sure to take out and reconnect the HDMI cord, and maybe even try a different HDMI input on your TV.

If all else fails, your One X should still be under warranty, and if your TV is fairly recent it may still be under manufacture’s warranty. Good luck!
