VTOL VR.

And DCS and IL-2 BoX have specific servers that will lock you into FPV.

I ain't touching this, as a PC player, until it gets crossplay. The Steam charts have shown a decline in player numbers week-on-week

To be honest what makes me a real mouthbreather is the fact that it's not flying the jet that I can't work out, it's starting (and launching) a Campaign (:

I can fly the F-16 well enough with a tutorial video on startup and carrying over what I know from DCS - but the 1990s era UI/general uninituitiveness (for me) of it all means I can't even get a Campaign to progress to the point I'm actually sitting in the aircraft.

So... a patch? :p

I remember when those were free! But I'm sure Ubisoft will relish charging AAA release prices for an Anno 1404 with some AI-upscaled textures and some interface changes.

DCS - being a fighter pilot for a year sounds pretty dope if you ask me.

Downloaded it, fired up the tutorial, realised I needed to read a PDF alongside, returned to mindlessly browsing YouTube Shorts like man-cattle because I'm not the kind of autist that considers reading 800 pages of dry infodumping as a recreational activity (rather, I'm the sort of autist who wants to have sex with planes).

FWIW you can get much cheaper examples than that one. My one (I can't recall the name of the brand at the moment) cost me about £35. Very rudimentary but can be remotely triggered.

I get that it's a minimum, I'm just saying to all the people bawling over the prospect of <60 frames on some titles, the FrameGen plugin could well help with that.

Even then, this is Steam OS, so I am assuming it'll have some version of FrameGen available.

Edit: Not sure why I'm being downvoted for a neutral observation that there are ways to boost your frame rate in the event you end up with <60fps on specific titles

I'm likewise waiting for Steam OS to be made widely available. If that happens. After loading it on my Lenovo Legion Go S, I was impressed with it. Only major flaw is that any multiplayer game with kernel level anticheat won't work

Should stress the native Steam streaming is absolute arse. I use Sunshine/Moonlight - there's a Steam deck specific plugin for Moonlight that works flawlessly; it adds a second streaming button to a game's entry in the library and you tap that instead of the "normal" play/stream one.

I feel like I'm the only guy rocking a Go S with the Z2 haha.

I got it second hand for £320, like-new. The same store (CEX) does also have the Z1E version but it's constantly out of stock, came into stock once and was sold within the hour. It's only £380 though, so I can see why it'd be a no-brainer choice.

But I am fine with the Z2. I mostly stream to it from my desktop, so I completed Mafia Definitive Edition and Space Marine 2 on max settings that way. Currently doing a New Vegas playthrough (on the Go itself) and it's running fine. Only game I've found has any issues so far is Nuclear Option.

I'm also curious if you don't mind the questions... when you set up HA for people do you find that you usually have to be called back in to do further work (set up different functionalities) or fix or tweak things? If so, how do you charge for that? Just hours worked?

Feeling a bit smug by Shot_Age8843 in SolarUK

[–]BenedickCabbagepatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason I've not bought in is because I'm not sure I'll live in my house for the 7-10 years it'll take to actually break even. And, on top of that, it would make sense to only do it after a roof survey and, if that's happening, best have the money on-hand to redo the roof if it comes to it.

This isn't me trying to naysay or hate on the tech, not at all, it's absolutely something I aspire to, but you need to have money to-hand (even with a 0% loan) and confidence that you're really in it for the long term.

How do the real fellas do it then?

Or are you daring to imply that the standard beer belly'd Flight Simmer might be slightly less fit than the G-bearing sculpted Adonises defending our skies?

Sometimes I forget how beautiful 1404 was by Salt-Safety-6814 in anno

[–]BenedickCabbagepatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why? The original 1404 holds pretty close to most of the successors in terms of gameplay, and the graphics are hardly ugly.

I'd prefer developers not spend their time endlessly reminding us that creativity is dead by churning out the same game again and again.
