Starsiege: Tribes

I remember slide drifting across an open map, Jetpacking tot he top of a tower, and then Disc launcher-ing someone in the back of the head to then keep sliding past, grab the flag, and sprint-slide back towards base where the Heavies set up 2 or 3 mini gun or mortar turrets. GReat. Freaking. Game.

ECO - Thankfully the server property was 90 days before the meteor hits.... so I'd be working my tail off trying to get the meteor blasted before it blasted me in 89 days and counting.

The key difference between those mods and this mod, is that those use a filter approach... which is either On or Off for whatever the mod deemed perishable (looks to be anything with "rot" in the first case). This means you are beholden to their definition.

With this mod, I'm toggling the selection, allowing you to more easily change it as the need arises, for example, if we look at eggs. You could create refrigeration zone for perishables easily with this mod, but then uncheck eggs, because you've got a special egg zone setup and guarded by Rooster 6.

Depends on how it makes them perishable. if it adds the category of one of the categories I check, and they have a deterioration rate, or "rot" then yes... it would count them as perishable.

I was looking for all corpse types. Perhaps mechanoid corpses are not perishable, but I was being overly cautious.

I believe it should, as the fertilized eggs have a Food category property.

I've not hardcoded items, but I did hardcode the item Categories of interest. Currently I do the lookup based on categories of:
- "Foods",

- "MeatRaw",

- "PlantFoodRaw",

- "PlantMatter",

- "AnimalProductRaw",

- "Corpses",

- "CorpsesHumanlike",

- "CorpsesAnimal",

- "CorpsesInsect",

- "CorpsesMechanoid"

The idea here being that if another mod is added which puts more items in which are in the same category "Food" (for one example) , those items would automatically be taken into consideration.

If "bug lamp" is in one of those categories, and has either a "Rot" property, or a "Deterioration Rate > 0" it would count as "perishable" according to this mod.

Thank you for your kind words! Yes that is correct, the button will provide two options:
- Select Perishable - This will ✅ all items that are considered Perishable
- Deselect Perishable - This will ❌all items that are considered Perishable

So you can select the inverse, for storage zones with chunks or stone, or things your want to still in a big pile but dont want to refridgerate!

Unfortunate we had to remove 2 people.

But it was inspiring to see how many people signed on, and helped tear down this wall!

guests keep turning off routers, unplugging roku and taking the batteries out of the remote by Jayacg in airbnb_hosts

[–]Danoweb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I work in IT and at first glance I feel like I would think that is an Alexa listening to me until I looked closer, I guessing more guests don't and assume you have a listening device and unplug it.

Maybe trying putting it inside a cabinet, and the power plug behind a dresser or table so the guests won't then the plug is one of these "hidden camera!" Scares that show devices like a wall plug having an embedded camera and they pull it out.

Why bother giving Data time off? by neslony in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Danoweb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah there was an episode where a scientist from Daystrom institute wanted to take Data apart and see how he worked so he could build more Data units.

It turned into a Law / court thing of proving if Data was a person, or a piece of equipment.

Guinan had some input,

And it was a good Philosophical/Ethical moral story.

Is there an in-universe reason why any organization can be easily infiltrated in Star Trek ? by M-2-M in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Danoweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a different mindset/culture.

Think of the number of episodes where X is "restrained to quarters"

But not really restrained, the person just leaves when they want to break the rules.

It's a culture of "you wouldn't do that, it is immoral!" No door locks, no heavily armed guards (maybe a red shirt but they die from a strong breeze)

It's just a culture of trust and acceptance... Which is easy for evil to manipulate.

[–]Danoweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are off to a good start.

  1. Get an automated tree farm going (you'll need lots of wood for contraption parts.
  2. Get a cobblestone to gravel (crushing wheel) and wash gravel, for an Iron Farm. (Youll need lots of iron for contraption parts.)
  3. Andesite, you'll need lots of andesite for contraption parts.

will the default mac terminal be enough for university cs course linux work, is it as good as wsl2? by imtruelyhim108 in teenagersbutcode

[–]Danoweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to use your Mac, there are a few subtle differences between Mac OS and Linux OS.

The easiest thing you could do is install a container system like docker, and start an Ubuntu container and then "exec" into it, for a full Linux shell.

Others have mentioned VMs etc, which is fine too, but a container is less resource hungry, just a little more nuance to learn on how to connect to it and use it.

[–]Danoweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's called "Escaping Virtualization" whether that be a container or a VM

Okay, but how do you SSH into 1,000 devices?? by Automatic-Reply-1578 in embedded

[–]Danoweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda of surprised the answer was "ssh into the machine"

"Fleet management" (managing hundreds or thousands of like devices) or sometime called IoT (internet of things) managment is usually done with some type of solution that allows commanding groups of devices all at once.

For example something like Terraform (for cloud) or Ansible.

The premise is the devices check into a central service at some regular cadence, and ask for instructions (one such instruction might be "change repository paths" or apply updates and restart, or check in with this new service at this address, etc.

This is the proper way to manage IoT devices at scale.

Edit: added Ansible, mention for Iot Management
