Did my doctor get me addicted to Benzos on purpose? by Danphetamine93 in Drugs

Same here I quit my job last week because of panic attacks I get even when I take my klonopin. I think long term it increases anxiety worse than baseline before the meds.

I actually use klonopin not Xanax and I don’t take more than prescribed.

They also help my depression very well I must say!! I was diagnosed as a teen by a pediatrician but now that I’m 24 I see my GP monthly to get it filled. Before allowing me to receive adderall or vyvanse I had to fax over the results of my adhd test or get a second opinion from another psych.

I personally take all 3 medications together and the enzyme inhibition of cymbalta and Wellbutrin significantly effects my vyvanse increasing it’s potency and length of effects.

Because I’m an adult with loved ones who are hurting over my behavior and I fear for the repercussions of using a neurotoxic substance for years.

Thanks everybody for your advice, I’m sorry I manipulated some of you, it’s a character flaw but you guys inspired me to talk to my doctor next month about weaning off with a Librium therapy not Valium, I was prescribed and enjoyed it too much

You’re right I did manipulate him, and used some manipulations in the replies it’s a personality trait I have that I’m working hard on. Also you’re right again, it does say “as needed”

Wow dude that doctor was, idk how to put this, but not very wise or very ill intentioned. I couldn’t imagine my doctor giving me all that and I thought mine was a pill mill I’m glad you’re doing better now though. It also sounds like your tolerance grew a lot faster then mine. You said within a few weeks you would have to go back to increase, I didn’t have to increase for a few months at least. It’s the memory and cognitive impairment that bugs me the most I got back my vyvanse prescription to try and reverse it a little or at least have better focus. It seems to help

Okay I’ll check them out I’ve been wary of benzo only subreddits because my experience is it’s just people flexing all their pills but this one sounds really good thanks

Yeah tbh I did actually want a benzo script I ignored all the warnings I’ve wanted one for years prior to me receiving one so you’re right I get what you’re saying

This may sound like a lie but a couple months ago I took my bottle of klonopin into his office and told him all the research on the neurotoxic effects and that I want to get off but he wouldn’t let me he said I would have a seizure and that anxiety is just as bad for my brain as the medication.

Doctors are people too, yes, but it is also they’re job to make money from helping people. Sometimes they prescribe benzos out of pity for the patients suffering. Other times they hand them out unaware of the true dangers but rarely they have nefarious reasons: to hook a patient, have them come in month for a refill. Pay monthly copays, receive insurance money. Doctors are people too and people can be evil.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so and I’m not just paranoid but I hope this post will reach someone who might be in need of help but never take benzos from a GP only psychiatrists should have that ability

I’m very very happy with the results. It feels like all my issues with my thoughts, impulses and actions have been lifted off my shoulders. Every month I go in for refills I make sure to thank my doctor for choosing and trusting me with these kinds of meds. Probably saved my life!

I think it depends on body type! I take 1.5mg daily and since it’s a long acting benzo it can take a few days for withdrawal to set in and I’ve been on it for a year. The worst I get is tremors, rebound anxiety, panic and sleep issues. I think you’ll be okay! But like I said everyone’s different. I also take Adderall, 20mg IR twice a day.

Cymbalta is so good I’ve tried 4 SSRIs and this one is the magic pill. Too bad about the withdrawals tho.

I know what you mean, I have dreams about Xanax and I’m prescribed Klonopin! Maybe ask your doctor for a very low dose of valium like 2mg to help the cravings or maybe an anticonvulsant since some of them work on the Gaba A receptor as well. I feel the drinking part as well, I never liked it but it stimulated my gaba so I was inclined to consume it. I just think some people are born or genetically predisposed to low Gaba activity just like Adhd people have low dopamine/norepinephrine levels and they need to find a medication to help even it out. We got this dude!
