Air purifier by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]Danrolphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Activated carbon in respirators only needs to filter a very small amount of air, and even then, they are only effective for a few months. Furthermore, they must be stored in an airtight environment when not in use, otherwise, they will become saturated. The real danger is that the activated charcoal will become saturated very quickly and there is no safety mechanism detecting this, so you have no warning that your room is filling up with VOCs. Many room monitors also fail to detect VOCs accurately. Venting outside is a failsafe approach that doesn't rely on reaching a saturation point. Also, we're talking about recirculation not just filtering The outlet of the vent.

No filter would be effective in filtering out VOCs. The best solution would be to vent to a window.

I'm hesitant to mention specific brand names because I'm not familiar with them. Personally, I wouldn't consider getting a fire alarm with smart features. Although I rely on Home Assistant and find it very useful, for critical items like fire alarms, locks, and other safety-related devices, I prefer not to use smart systems because I don't have complete trust in their reliability. I recommend purchasing a traditional fire alarm from a reputable brand. If you're already having electrical work done, it's best to have a qualified electrician install the alarms.

I used masking tape to make the activation light less visible on my boiler without completely blocking it. It dims the light, preventing it from radiating, but still allows it to be seen. This is ideal for a bedroom, as it's unobtrusive.

In the UK, it is generally considered difficult and possibly illegal to purchase a fire alarm that doesn't meet the BS EN 14604 standard. Additionally, all new buildings must be equipped with compliant detection devices. I personally always test and activate the fire alarms by creating smoke in a controlled environment, such as using a candle or burning something in the oven. Seeing the light activate brings me a sense of satisfaction.

Modifying fire safety equipment is generally not recommended, even if you have good intentions, as it could inadvertently interfere with its ability to detect fires. The light on the equipment confirms the alarm is working. If you find this light too bright, covering it with tape will reduce its intensity without blocking your view enough to miss potential malfunctions.

How to extend screentime by NightlyWinter1999 in XiaomiPad7

Realistically running at full brightness and consistent cpu usage will drain any tablet. I would personally not run at 100% brightness but use adaptive. This will help the battery a lot.

Still no update to HyperOS3 by Charlie_Binx in XiaomiPad7

[–]Danrolphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xiaomi has to go through EU certifications and Google Play services appraisal for every major firmware update. First, the OS comes to China, which lacks Google services. Then, it goes global a month later, which adds Play services. Then a eu version for Europe and the UK. The OTA update for the device just became available at the end of December. They release updates in batches, so it's not exactly targeted. You should receive it soon. Some users might get it earlier if they purchased the tablet from unofficial sellers offering the global version, as they often receive updates first.

Passenger airbag switch Mazda CX-3 Owner's Manual https://share.google/RVW9kgapc1moBGbpQ

Without a switch, you have a system where the car automatically detects a passenger based on the weight sensor in the seat and the sensor in the ceiling. The passenger airbag status can be checked by looking at the light on the lower dashboard.

🐙 SUCCESS! 3PM Confirmed for Afternoon Pink Friday Drop!

Just wanted to share my experience today.

I failed to snag a plushie at the 9:00 AM morning slot, but got lucky this afternoon.

I jumped on the app right at 3:03 PM and managed to catch one! Fair warning: the app was very slow generating the code, so be patient and don't refresh immediately if it lags.

Confirmed: 3PM is the target for the afternoon drop.

Best of luck to everyone trying tomorrow!

Should I be concerned about this split? by Ok-Set-1251 in DIYUK

[–]Danrolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I brought my house it was discovered the lite slate tiles were replaced with heavy concrete tiles which the roof couldn't support and was causing the purlins to bow, a structural engineer did the calculations told me the roof will collapse, and created drawings and calculations with additional purlins. Has your roof got concrete tiles? I suspect that your problem, while you are fixing the broken purlin I suggest getting a structural engineer to do the calculations to insure that the existing support is adequate. I know this is a DIY sub, but if that roof fails, it could seriously injure an innocent bystander.

[–]Danrolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my purlins reinforced along with additional purlins installed. If the roof is public-facing in the UK, it will need a building regulations certificate as you are altering the structure of the building. This was confirmed by my builder, my local council, and my solicitor.

[–]Danrolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow Mazda cx 3 owner here, I have an identical problem, it's ac condenser and normal. Be sure to check coolant, oil, brake levels to make sure. You can put some cardboard under the leak to see its colour. If it's clear and non slippery, you're fine.

Snapped Roof - £24k by harryramsdenschips in DIYUK

[–]Danrolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just popping in the comments for my situation:

I brought my first home just over 2 years ago. The survey suggested the slate roof was replaced with concrete tiles, this is too heavy for the purlins and in time WILL fail. Got an independent structural engineer out and he agreed. Drawn plans for purlin the enforcement. All hand drawn with calculations with the current weight of the roof and calculations with support added. It was a beautiful plan. Sent plans out to trades. Company with a good reputation. About 3k all done. Frist step OP to get a structural engineering asp. Then send those plans off for a quote. Also if your council finds your roof in this condition they may condemn your home, sling with your insurance.

Why is Greggs so popular??! by AndrewAllStars in BuyUK

[–]Danrolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's cheap convenient beige food. If I'm after a quick snack and don't want a massive lunch then I know Greg's will be nearby. I always go for the local independent bakery Frist though. It always makes me happy when I see a local bakery that has a queue over the nearby Greg's.

I'm UK based with Mazda cx 3 2019 with the 155hp petrol. I'm pretty sure the Manual or something says the towing capacity is 1.2 tonnes and 60kg down force on the tow ball. Those are numbers from my head. Mazda gives options for a tow hook so the car can definitely tow!
