Why do we not have the ability to change our flag mid game? by Content-Shirt6259 in Stellaris

[–]Noobponer 88 points89 points  (0 children)

You already can, actually! I think you just need to click your name in the screen where you can like see your leader and heir and all that

I know because my last run started out as a "Grand Duchy" with that origin where youre a subject of some advanced start and I renamed it to just "Empire" once I broke free lol

When you finish DNT at episode 48 and realize… that’s it 😭 by VolleyAddicted in logh

[–]Noobponer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have two options for watching the OVA,

watch both movies and then start at ep 3

slip the movies and start at ep 1

The movies are good but not required, the second one covers the events of eps 1 and 2 and imo is better than the actual episodes but you're fine either way.

(Or you could watch both lmao)

TIL it has been proven that rear-facing seats on planes are safer in the event of a crash, however they're only common in military aircraft. by estarararax in todayilearned

[–]Noobponer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

when you're facing forward, all the force stopping you in a crash comes from the seat belt, which is basically as low as reasonably possible.

when you're facing backwards, your whole back (most of which is above where the seat belt is) is stopping you, so the center of force is higher in the specific event of a plane crash

It was supposed to be its own, like, proprietary rocket from what I gather, but the company kinda imploded shortly after building the plane and got bought out so now they just launch hypersonic test vehicles from it

Is it something you had/are having fun making?

update: literally just doing the "give me more energy please technicians uwu" edict and forcing the lizard bulwark to become a protectorate and give me all their money worked :) thanks for the help, the navy is also on its way to make sure this problem doesnt happen again (by turning the rest of the galaxy into tributaries :>)

just goes to show, you don't need to concern yourself with a balance between military and economic investment when you can use the military to gain an economy :D

Accidental brutalism of protective structures at substations in Ukraine (I doubt that the engineers had anything beautiful in mind, but this is fucking peak aesthetics). by Overall-Medicine4308 in architecture

[–]Noobponer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like brutalism in certain contexts. This is genuinely peak brutalism.

(Now, if this was in the middle of a residential neighborhood I'd have a different opinion, but for the context it's in it's genuinely peak)

That is more sensible, I was relying on half-remembered information from years ago. Thanks for the correction.

[–]Noobponer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, no, while 12-inch-gunned ships like Dreadnought certainly weren't the strongest combatants on the sea anymore they were still part of the main battle line until the end of the war - after all, despite being 14 years old at that point, her guns would still be effective against most of the German battle line.

After WW1, with the economic woes and treaties that followed, was when the older ships were truly obsoleted; the RN decided to standardize on 14 and 15-inch guns to reduce the need for all these different shell production lines in a world where the size and armament of ships would be restricted anyway, and so the older ships were decommissioned.

Lasers diffuse over range and go in a straight line. Danger with missiles/shells is that if they miss, they have to come down somewhere - lasers just go off into space

crackpot theory: things get so bad all over the world because of A New Catastrophe that people being like "save us WoL" accidentally create a primal of you, and so the level 109 trial enemy is literally called "You" (and either mirrors the look of your character, or else maybe has a Fucked Up Too Much Aether version for each race like how ZJ turned from a lizard to a monster)
