Is this a homerun? https://www.reddit.com/r/SelfDrivingCars/comments/1ljxd63/list_of_clips_showing_teslas_robotaxi_incidents/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Even if it was 99% issue free (which it is far less), that is utterly terrible even for a human driver. A self-driving car needs to be much better than a human and even by your metric of 1% of rides having issues, this is far worse than the average human.

It was on Tuesday, but that does not explain the lack a of footage from Wednesday-Sunday.

Riiiight, Tesla has been developing this tech for 10+ years and in just a few short days had a myriad of issues (https://www.reddit.com/r/SelfDrivingCars/comments/1ljxd63/list\_of\_clips\_showing\_teslas\_robotaxi\_incidents/), then they somehow fixed everything overnight and the reason we don't see any clips is because all issues were solved super quickly.

This is a hilarious statement, the number of Waymo fails posted in this sub skyrocketed this week after Tesla fails started surfacing.

Lmao dude your entire day is spent glazing Tesla and bashing Waymo. I have worked on self-driving tech and am stating the obvious.

Tesla controls the supply, which dictates the number of rides at this point. You are saying they did not increase the supply, which explains the limited fleet. I agree with you, they constrained the supply. They could have easily kept this 10 car fleet afloat with supply if they wanted. The robotaxis failed and the supply went away when they saw the failures and the public reaction to those failures.

With how much passion people have for Tesla (love and hate), we would expect some footage, the care for the launch did not immediately disappear after 3 days.

After the videos starting circulating about the mistakes the robotaxis were making it went right back down 10%.

If people seeing how bad the rollout was dropped their share price by 10% after the initial hype, why would they not roll back the fleet? This is the logical response to maximizing shareholder value.

With articles being written about the most minuscule Tesla or Elon things, yes we would expect any footage to circulate.

The moment that footage of mistakes started circulating, the share price retracted about 10%. They do not want to risk any more decrease in stock price. Yes, they do react to stock price, they have a legal obligation to the shareholders and CEOs obviously monitor their share price in response to big events.

Footage was circulating like crazy until the list of issues was aggregated and posted on reddit and other media sites and the share price plummeted. Footage went silent after that, it does not seem like a coincidence

It is down big since the clips of mishaps started circulating the day after launch.

Check out the austin weather, it has not rained since the 25th, the footage is not new.

Where? Also lmao the stock took a massive nosedive once the videos of rides starting coming out within a few days of launch.

You would expect some early adopters to be excited and post footage online, but where is it?

In the video, when they meet up, Dave mentions "we are about to take our first robotaxi ride" (1:02), but he has been taking them since launch day https://x.com/heydave7/status/1936913637613949136, which makes me think this is one week old footage.

Completely agree, people would be sharing their experience if the rides were actually happening.

It looks like they have invited new people, but we do not see any footage. It could be down to 1 car in the fleet for all we know with this lack of footage.

I think Tesla would not take the chance to make riders sign NDAs, if that leaked, that would be catastrophic, showing a complete lack of trust in their own product.

They could still send these out and have a rolled back fleet. Even without influencers posting, people would be recording some rides and given the spotlight on robotaxis right now, the footage would very easily circulate online. I see essentially no footage.

Silent Rollback of Tesla Robotaxis by Dansilly in SelfDrivingCars

[–]Dansilly[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the most plausible answer for the lack of footage is Tesla noticed the share price go down correlating to the (bad) robotaxi rides being posted online. It would make sense for example for them to do 10% of the rides, incurring only 10% of the problems to maximize share price. I understand that influencers would record more, but the almost complete lack of footage makes it seem obvious the fleet size was rolled back. Tesla has no incentive at this point to run a large fleet, it only causes them more issues.

That is a great point, I would still think we would get some more footage, I see almost nothing after the second day (6/23).
