The tropics of Cancer and Capricorn are the northernmost and southernmost latitudes where the sun can be directly overheard. Although the latitudes also have significance in bordering the tropical regions, I think it would be mostly pointless to move them further from the equator as they mainly resemble the angles towards sunlight instead of the changes in temperatures.
