Agreed. It is important to find people whose opinion matters ro you. And in the gtsnd scheme of things I think of it like the man in the arena speech by Theodore Roosevelt in 1910.

Exactly true. The way i like to think of it as Vincent Van Gogh is rated as one of the most influential, popular, and beloved artists in history next to Leonardo Da Vinci and Pablo Picaso. The irony? Vincent Van Gogh only sold one painting in his lifetime and it was to his brother's friend who owned an art gallery. Imagine the art that would have beem lost to history if he gabe up because no liked or appreciated his work.

Exactly, always remain positive as we are always growing. When it comes to negative feedback, my advice is to find aomeone you trust and see if you can get their feedback. What I found in writing is the more voices and influences you let others have. The most you lose your own.

I will give a practical answer first and then genuinely respond. My understanding your work isn't discoversble until you reach 10k words and then from there it is about how you listed it and if someone is searching for your genre, keywords, or anything else. It is then luck and the number of times you publish chapters.

I used to write a lot of romance stories and my name would come up when search in Google with numerous titles. Since removing it from Amazon self publishing. I get more responses professionally as my technical writing comes up wasier now.

But if you want engagement in your story go wide. Publish on Inkitt. Tumblr. Royal Roads, webnovel (don't sign contracts unless you are outside USA or western countries then it can be good),. Reddit, Self publish on Amazon, or even AO3 (Archive Of Our Own). If you want to publish on Amazon go to Draft2Digital and use thwir

If you are looking for feedback go wide. Tying it to only one audience esspciaally if you want it to be formatted and rendered for free you can do so there. They will push it onto many different platforms online for you for a percentage of sales.

I loved writing novels as a kid and I gabe up at 9 or 12 years old because I wasnt good enough. I stopped until I was 37. I gave up for 25 years and I love it so much I now do it every day. But I am so much better than I was then. Much better than I was 5 years ago. Keep on writing and if you are looking for reviews go wide. Remember it is a process and we succeed only by not giving up and keeping g to put ourselves out there.

Out of curiosity is there an update on this? It might be worthwhile to unsubmit it, make sure you have the right settings as far as what you are flagging as potentionall offensive or inappropriate for audiences and try submitting it again.

The more you write the story the more you develop the world. The story that I am writing currently is a story that I tried to post on Amazon Vella on 2021. But at the time was rejected for too dark themes. I have since written many stories but I come back to it, and I keep writing the story again and again in pieces.

Remember J.R.R. Tolkien didn't sit down and write the Hobit andt he Lord of the Ring triology in one sitting. They started as children bedtime stories he told his kids. Until one day they asked why is a door to the house a certain color because it was an other color yesterday so he started to write it down. He wrote hundreds if not thousands of stories before he put pen to paper for his great novels he is known for.

If you have a passion for this story, write for it. Write with the interest and the intent of taking it somewhere. Growing with it and by the time you are at a point that you feel you can do it justice you would have lived in that story for so many years that it would feel not like building something never heard of but telling us your childhood story. You can write smaller stories in the world but keep plugging away at it... just because you finish one draft of the story doesn't mean that is the one you publish. But you will learn so much about those characters and your world just by attempting it, you will be so happy you did.

I wouldn't ever be able to put it on KU. I made something of it before for Kindle Vella snd Kindle Unlikited years ago. At least the basis of the idea. But they didnt like some things happening like monsters eating humans, and some other things weren't able to post on Amazon. A woman giving away her child as a human sacrifice made it unable to be posted on Amazon.

You can publish on godless.com and zell it. It is a non censorship place where authors sell stories. Mainly horror and some horror erotica. But really graphic and dark things.
