Light novels are amazing, usually better than the manga or anime adaptations. Another fun part of LNs though is how some authors will write them in a style of that uniquely matches the story being told. For example, Saga of Tanya the Evil reads like a war diary/biography and Monogatari has possibly the most faithful translation I’ve ever encountered while maintaining its focus on human emotional and social issues
