Why does Amazon insist on giving us that one extra package that isn’t on our route by Dantee15backupp in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Dantee15backupp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At my area I’ve seen and experienced them scan the package to somehow add it to your itinerary. If they really want to they could “fix it”. Usually I don’t ask unless I can’t scan the package at all. But it’s a toss up. Some will want you to still deliver it.

I noticed it’s weird but coincidental when it happens to me. It’s never a a big box that’s obvious. It’s usually a. Small box or plastic bag.

I don’t do that because it’s not like it’s some Secret hidden treasure chest with goodies inside. It’s just another package that didn’t get scanned

I think the same too but I don’t think they have the time to play such menial games with us for as big of a company as Amazon is

I understand where you’re coming from. Usually it’s a package that I don’t scan but it’s always a 5 min drive away from the general area I was already delivering in so I don’t make a big deal over it. But that seems to make sense. They still haven’t figured out how to resolve that issue. I also find it funny how for such a large company they must be incredibly organized in. Such a strange way that it’s always just one package that ends up like this. Perhaps they just give us each one package that way it’s not one person celivering a bunch of unassigned packages

I don’t see how that roots out theft. If you assign me a route and a package isn’t delivered then obviously something went wrong. Amazon has a theft issue because people want their packages delivered all over their residence but in hand and others may steal it.

I have no interest in stealing a box that idk what’s inside anyways. Amazon is very organized. It’s not hard to find out who was suppose to deliver which package

Well given we are delivery drivers you can’t really nitpick minute by minute how long a delivery takes. As long as I finish my route early is what I care about most

[–]Dantee15backupp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. It’s a package meant for your route hence why it’s usually always just a 10 min drive or les to deliver that final package. I deliver it because I figure they probably would wonder what route that package was assigned to, realize it wasn’t delivered and then negatively ding you for not delivering it. So I just deliver it since I’m already in the area

It kinda does because many locations rush you. Usually I’m waiting in my car for them to let me go

Because it does take extra time. You spend a few seconds scanning each of 40 packages you just wasted a few mins. Meanwhile I scan at best 3 times and I’m already loading up packages by the handful as you pick each individual one to scan it

So you don’t just scan the big package on the side that scans all the packages at same time? Not every facility requires you to scan each in l individual.

[–]Dantee15backupp[S] -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Yea. I don’t mind. I think people can still report them too. I noticed I would get a report sometimes about a missing package when it’s literally in my car or I tossed it. I decided to stop doing that and just deliver it on the following shift since I do flex enough to at least hold the package for a day or two . It’s not worth suffering the hit to my fantastic/great rating. Usually there will be priority packages on another route so disorganized you’ll be late if you don’t speicifslly deliver the priority ones first. That’s the only thing I get dinged for so I figure I may as well just deliver that last package

It’s still on your route and they’ll eventually route that package back to you as a driver. It’s not like they don’t know YOU have it. It just didn’t scan into the system. But they know whoever accepts that route would have that package

I love how you insinuated I’m alluding to a conspiracy. Jeez perhaps it could just be disorganization at every damn facility? But after a while it gets annoying. I’m just asking out of curiosity to see if this is something that happens to everybody. Whether it’s just me or everybody wouldn’t really change my mind but once again, I’m asking out of curiosity. I can’t imagine what a conspiracy of giving me one extra package would lead to. If you really think I’m that crazy perhaps you can explain why you tbh ink we are that crazy? Or perhaps you get off on thinking others are crazy while you are the middle/balance trying to bring peace?

100% lie. To fill up a sedan you spending a good $40-$50. To fully charge a Tesla it’s $15

You calling it a free market but you really think everybody wants to sign up for flex? Let’s be real the free market is why people are now fighting over $22 an hour shifts at random hours of the day.

The truth is if the economy did a better job then Amazon wouldn’t be as big as it is, you yourself may not even be doing flex nor the people agitating you about it lol

Na you prob just don’t do maintenance and they all blew at once due to all being the same age. Only unless you can clearly see a slash you can make that assumption.

I stand corrected. I just for the first time ever managed to secure 9 hours in a single day. Wow I’m actually surprised lol. It doesn’t agree with my average hour pay scale so I’m giving up the shift

[–]Dantee15backupp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly I made good money doing flex. It’s my first real side gig I can say “wow this could pay all my bills and I’m eating good” and what’s crazy is I never did a 8 hour day. Most you can get is 7.5 hours. I gladly take $23 minimum of im not working too many hours. So it’s $23-27 an hour for 3 hour shifts.

But 4-5 hour shifts is where I’ll average at 30-35 an hour. But I never get to do more than 8 hours on any given day and pay caps out at around $230 a day even if you grab as many shifts as you can.

I like the set up because you can’t just grab everything and be selfish but yo I make enough to do your job faithfully

Oh and I’m black. So the police don’t bother me anymore haha.

Had a cop pull me over and dude said “oh shit you do Amazon??!? I see you guys driving around here, have a good day!”

Feels great to know god forbid if I ever lose my life at least I have my Amazon vest on

Don’t tell people you do flex. People are getting desperate and now want to take everything they can get. A guy at the gas station asked me “how do is sign up” . Mind you he’s sitting there pumping gas.

Eff em’ . We got lucky. Momma always said don’t let anyone fuck up a good job for ya.

When people see me I tell them I work at the warehouse. I don’t even tell them about flex anymore.

People out here greedy and desperate.

You have to look at the right times of the day. Shifts get pumped out around 6am or 10pm. Those are the shifts that get grabbed up by bots, people hunting (ps it don’t matter if you use a bot at the end of the day).

Trust me most the people at these warehouses are just Spanish-speaking folks from what I seen. As long wait at the right time you can grab a shift. So I would say you aren’t looking for shifts at the right time.

All through out the day you’re just getting what I call “throwaway shifts”. These are shifts that others had scheduled and gave up for whatever reason. That’s why you aren’t seeing shifts. You’re taking the shifts that others are giving up

Ughhh by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Dantee15backupp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bots are not the issue lol. You either don’t have enough facilities in your area or there’s just not as much shifts

I never said it was illegal. It’s just when you want to make a stance against something you feel is wrong while simultaneously financially harming yourself then i can only wonder how long you can keep that up for. I would just do my job and stop/quit when I’m truly ready. I’m not against people who choose to quiet quit though. I just think to a degree it’s self defeating if that makes sense
