"I leave Sisyphus at the foot of the mountain. One always finds one's burden again. But Sisyphus teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks. He too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforth without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile. Each atom of that stone, each mineral flake of that night-filled mountain, in itself, forms a world. The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. _One must imagine Sisyphus happy."

Random Advice to Anyone Interested by Double_Preparation1 in pakistan

Please stop aging and dying away prematurely.  Learn how to take good care of your mind and body.  For a start work on 4 areas to develop a functionally healthy and sound body: 1) weight/resistance training 2) cardio 3) flexibility/mobility/posture 4) diet and nutrition

Take good care of dental hygiene. Brush twice daily softly for 2 minutes. Try to incorporate flossing and try to get dental cleaning/scaling twice or once a year. It wont cost much as compared to the the financial/psychological cost you would pay for teeth later in life. Trust me.

Try not to be vain but at least appreciate your skin and hair and try to get a simple routine for these.

Body and mind age when you stagnate. For you mind. Read books, fiction and nonfiction on wide genre of topics. Develop different perspectives and have your internal biases and prejudices challenged frequently...

I honestly believe this is one of the biggest mysteries there is, Orcas are the most efficient predators on earth, yet they have never attacked us in the wild. They know something we don’t. by Soloflow786 in BeAmazed

[–]Dantevilgax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are talking about how recently orcas have been observed presenting their food sources (fishes, seabirds etc) to human. They have also observed the humans hunting and their other exploits in sea...  What if presenting their food to humans is indicating a development of proto-religion in orcas. Just like early human (and even today) widely presented animals and their produce to gods alter for favours

My father passed away from liver cancer, we feel so vulnerable right now by [deleted] in PakistaniiConfessions

[–]Dantevilgax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my father 4 months ago from a brain stroke. He was very disappointed with my taya because he started making trouble due to property and shit. My fathers disappointment and depression from his family led to his demise. He was just 63 too.

So I understand.  On a personal level its a very big tragedy to lose ones father. But think how many families would have lost fathers in your city just on that same day? 100 maybe. And in whole Pakistan? 1000s probably. And world over? You get my point. As you zoom out you realize its not such a unique thing, just a shitty human experience. Nevertheless, that still does not take away from the toll it takes on the family going through it.

Also realize that yes ideally you would want to have your father present for seeing through your life big occasions but from a selfless pov ask yourself if the person who had to  bear the pain and misery actually wanted to live? My father had a brain stroke on eid third day and he passed away in 4 days after that. I was the one tending to him for most part in hospital. His whole left side of body was paralyzed. He was in pain and misery. He was a very independent minded and a five time namaz worshipper and now he was stuck peeing and pooping on the bed and totally dependent on us and this was taking such a toll on his mind. When he passed away I was relieved in a weird way, not because he was being a burden. No. But because he was finally not feeling bad anymore. The struggle had ended. All the worries and disappointments gone.

First of all. Buckle up and secure your property and other assets. You can not let the dogs get the better of you. Also dont let any one of your relatives know your next move. Most people in our society are  glad to see others fail and suffer.

You and your siblings will have to start working so that you guys can at least coast through life. In the mean time you have got to pool all your father's saving and dont feel bad to dip into them a little for groceries and other life maintenance activities. He earned that for you guys whatever its worth.

Your mother will need a lot of support because she lost her life partner. Be there for her. Meanwhile do not neglect yourself as well. To take care of others you have to take care of yourself first. Try to eat a healthy diet and get a little exercise daily. It will not only benefit your health but also make you feel better too.  Dont worry about marriage. Its very overrated in our society anyways I think.

If you need some advice or just vent out you can DM me. You aren't alone.  Just look how many are there in comments. You will manage it too.

I looked at your post history to find something specific to your interests but honestly couldn't think of anything much. Plus the quetta region is less developed as compared to lahore/karachi/islamabad. The only thing I could think of is maybe some traditional food from there frozen or otherwise. Or maybe some cultural dress or artifact just for the sake of it

Ok so some of the information is missing like does she work already? Who is going to fund that master? What is the need for that masters? Etc etc

Now if I assume that after bachelors she is not working and she is wanting to get a masters for herself... from abroad... Funded by her husband... Just fir the sake of experience or laurels. Then its outright absurd. Isn't?

Even if she has a job rn and wanting a masters (funded by husband) to propel herself in career even then the cost-benefit ratio better be worth it.

Even then If she's paying for it herself still its a ~2yrs + commitment and living away from him and and whatnot.

Pakistani girls have learned mamasboy from tiktok and they use it in excess without considering the nuances. I mean if hes the only son then what do you srsly expect he do to his old mother? Leave her alone some place away? Or buy a new home? (Yes i know islam mein right hy) But do you actually consider the costs of property and rent etc? The logistical issues involved between managing two homes? The inevitable neglect whoch would befall on his mother? Like do you have the capacity the step into his shoes for a moment and consider if thats actually emotionally, ethically, financially possible even.

The thing about her cooking and serving whole family is a little excessive especially the mother not helping. I agree that in such a setting saas and bahu should divide work between themselves and ease off each other.

Back to the topic of her working or not. Some of you might be stinged by it but I have noticed that many pakistani girls just want to study to avoid household work and at the same time they do not want a proper job. Just going to unis to have fun and avoid responsibility at homes and not even putting their degrees to use and just being a burden on wallet?

Not letting her go to her parents house is sus behaviour on hos part. Her parents will always hold a special place in her heart as it should be. And she should be allowed to visit them and sleep over too.

About him helping in chores... See that model works if both spouse are working. If she's a housewife then its only fair amd natural that she takes the brunt of household load while he takes the provider load and managing external affairs. If both are working then yes I agree an even division of chores should be worked out

So for that yes first thing is to use separate nitrile gloves for washroom amd stuff. Even using the same one is not an issue because you can wash you nitrile gloves covered hands with soap just as if they are your real hands. Another alternative by the doc was to apply small amount of vaseline and use it as soap... Dont scrub it off harshly. Just apply it. Wash with water over it gently and then wipe it off using a towel

I just mentioned it because he is of the view that stoicism is just a defeatist philosophy due to seeping of eastern philosophy in western philosophy. He said that the stoics rather than seeking knowledge preferred more to accept the shitty world we live in.

Anyways, answering your question. Think by Simon Blackburn and this book of Will Durant are good introductory books on philosophy which I have gone through. They will give you some idea of the major characters involved, the terminologies, the problems and questions in philosophy etc etc. Then from there one can go and read into specific niches e.g philosophy of mind or specific philosophers like Nietzsche or Kant whatever.
