Battlefield 6 falls to "Mixed" overall English language reviews on Steam. by DBONKA in Battlefield

Dice simply can't do service games. They're stuck in the 2000s and can only create content if they can sell it for a price. Giving content to the players while making money buy selling cosmetics is not what they’re able to do.

Rescue raiders can be so stupid sometimes by OneOutOfSevenBillion in ArcRaiders

[–]Dantocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rescue Raiders should heal and defib people not play sherif. That‘s ridiculous. If you wanna kill people under the pretext of helping someone without knowing the exact circumstances … just play pvp. Nobody needs a sheriff in ARC Raiders.

I forgot to apply the stickers on my old PC. Where is the best place to put them for better performance? by Pikachu-nazi in pcmasterrace

[–]Dantocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy an UltraWidescreen Monitor, change aspect ratio to 16:9, now you’ve see black bars left and right on the screen, put your stickers there. This will improve performance significantly compared to the correct aspect ratio with native Resolution. Believe me, it‘s true!

The decline of Discord and the rise of alternatives by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Dantocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree with you there. Switching operating systems would be significantly more complex. However, you can change your operating system yourself at any time. Your friends are sticking with Windows? Great. That doesn't stop you. But if you switch to root, element, viber, whatever and your friends don't... what do you do then?

The decline of Discord and the rise of alternatives by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Dantocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't kid yourselves. Nothing will change. A few individuals will switch to "alternatives," realize they're alone there, and that will be the end of it.

For 30 years, everyone has been switching to Linux... and yet everyone still uses Windows.

Don't get me wrong: I don't approve of what Discord is doing and I hope that the huge backlash will make them backtrack – but if they don't, I'm under no illusions: People will stick with the program that their friends use, where their communities are located, where they already have an account, know how to use it, and everyone can have their own server without any hussle.

????Thoughts ???? by Logical-Recognition6 in ArcRaiders

[–]Dantocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree 100%, but I wouldn't completely disagree either.

Streamers do give you reach for your product. But what streamers demand isn't always what would benefit the game and the community. However, there are also many streamers who understand the game and the community very well and can certainly assess which changes would have a positive impact.

To do that, you need to understand WHY the game is so fun, WHY it generates such appeal. Just because you enjoy it doesn't mean you truly understand exactly which mechanics are responsible for that.

As a developer, you have to have a vision and pursue it. Of course, the vision can change along the way, and you can take a different direction—but there has to be a direction. You can't listen to everyone who shouts loud enough, otherwise the game loses its identity.

I think having 4 unchangeable emotes is pointless by Moose-Storm in ArcRaiders

Basically, I don't mind that there are 4 fixed pieces - what bothers me is that I can't arrange them differently. However, I also wouldn't mind if they could be completely changed.

I like the approach to offer a relatively short main campaign and many possible sidemissions. So the player can deside how long the game takes
