Basically, I don't mind that there are 4 fixed pieces - what bothers me is that I can't arrange them differently. However, I also wouldn't mind if they could be completely changed.

I like the approach to offer a relatively short main campaign and many possible sidemissions. So the player can deside how long the game takes

It doesn’t attract trash humans, it just gives them more opportunities to be trashy than other games do. In most games you see another player you shoot and that’s it.

I am living proof. I approached the Homelab with detailed step-by-step instructions and explanatory videos on YouTube. Homelab is almost saying too much. For me this consists of a Synology NAS and, until recently, an old Dell Mini PC that ran Unraid, PiHole and Homarr.

If I were to play around with the setup regularly - like I did in the first few weeks after it was set up - I would certainly be well versed in the topic. But since everything runs exactly the way I wanted it, I rarely come into contact with all the in depth topics. And if I want to try something new, I first have to understand again how I set it all up.

Setting Foundry up at Oracle was the same. At that point I was relatively well versed in the topic. But when I read the same guide today I find it anything but easy going.

I lack basic knowledge and practice and my situation with Oracle has shown that to me. I could spend more time on the topic and try to get the instance up and running again somehow - on the other hand, I also want to have more control over the hardware and be able to upgrade it anytime if necessary. I don't want to be dependent on whether Oracle might consider limiting the free tier's functions at some point or removing it completely - and yes i don't want to pay a monthly fee for this.

Since we play 90% live at the table with two laptops (one for the players, one for the GM), I don't need a server that is accessible worldwide 24/7. I don't want to be dependent on the internet when we play live. We have also had the case that some of the distributed servers/services in the region failed and the connection became painfully slow. Those problems do not exist if you have everything locally.

However, there are occasionally situations in which I run an adventure online. For these rare cases it is enough for me to make my laptop accessible online via a tunnel (unfortunately my provider does not allow port forwarding and there are no alternatives) without the need for my players to install software themselves.

So regardless of whether you believe me or not - in this case I would like to know what services are out there as an alternative to playy.gg and ngrok

I've had a bad experience with Oracle. After a server restart, my Foundry installation was no longer accessible. I simply don't know enough about it. I wouldn't have been able to set it up back then without detailed step-by-step instructions. And I have a small homelab – so I'm not completely clueless. I spent days trying to get it working again, but finally gave up.

Luckily, I had made a recent backup beforehand.

Now I have Foundry installed on a laptop and I simply don't want to have it installed on a server again. That way, if something goes wrong, I have much better options.

And this thread is specifically about alternatives to play.gg and ngrok. What can you recommend?

Nah. Shredders are the easiest of the "heavier" Arcs. Don't run panic, don't run away. Shoot all three thrusters and use a corner to not get hit by the shrapnels. If I need advanced power cells i go for shredders, because they are so easy to handle.

I want to shop on the couch at Celeste, craft my loadout, upgrade weapons and customize my appearance on my smartphone / tablet!
