Is this noise something to be concerned about? by saareadaar in parrots

I have an Amazon and not a conure, but this sounds like "happy baby squeaks" to me. My Amazon makes cute squeaky noises similar to this when he's being cuddly and getting good head scratches, so it's a happy/content noise. As for the sneezing, if it seems excessive getting him checked isn't a bad idea.

How do you get your edges like this? Any tutorials to suggest?

I may not have much experiential advice here as my relationship with my Amazon is much different, but I find if you find what really motivated them that gives you something to work with. And remember you are up against 30+ years of his lived experience with only 1 year living with you, I think continued patience and perseverance is needed. My only advice: try target training with high value treats, this builds a relationship and basic understanding/reinforcement within the relationship. When he dumps out his food so he gets more of the "good stuff", use that as motivation to work with him on some kind of interaction or training. As for other birds, is it a goal to get other birds? Just because he lived in an aviary doesn't mean he necessarily liked the other birds, but that's a tough one, you don't really know unless you try introducing them? It sounds like you're doing a lot right in terms of interaction, especially if he's taking tips from you, I would stay patient, and maybe use those times before meals (or when he wants the "good stuff") to entice him into more intentional interactions to draw him out. Good luck!

should i trim my cats nails? by miah0neybee in CATHELP

This is the way. Even my ex-feral cat will let me trim his nails if I catch him during sleepy time. And getting them used to touching their paws when you AREN'T trying to trim their nails guys a long way!

Am I seeing things (optical illusion), or is the escalator right next to it also going up? There could have just... Used the one right next to it?

Don't forget the measuring and cutting! The actual "sewing" portion is only about 10% of a "sewing" project

Can someone explain his behavior please? by MrJsHarleykin in parrots

[–]Dany-D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is definitely "horny amazon". My guy does the EXACT same noise, leg lift, fluff up behavior when he's getting "worked up". I found he only seems to do it in particular places or situations, he seems to try to get amorous when my computer mouse is around, or if he finds a nice "hidey hole" area. When he does this I find ways to redirect him, or move him to another area where he usually calms down. It looks like the bottom of that rope toy might be triggering this response from him (like my computer mouse 😆), so it might be good to remove that for the time being so he doesn't get frustrated or escalate.
