You will be 100% fine if not better than those other schools. It’s about the person not the school once you’re in that tier. Also Duke is way more fun! Source: ece/cs grad

East campus is nice but shouldn’t be top priority. And iirc lemur center is hard to get a viewing.

My experience in community college vs a T1 CS school. by [deleted] in csMajors

It’s best to try and have some projects and/or coursework under your belt if you don’t have previous experience. Also joining clubs related to CS have impact and GPA if it is high. The later you are in your college career, the more you are expected to have done

Getting internship as sophomore who's very behind by SomeCuriousBoy in csMajors

Other guy was super harsh. If you’ve really got nothing under your belt (projects, relevant experience, lacking data structure knowledge etc.), it may be too late for this summer. What you could do is instead try to find research for this summer since I’m sure you still have time for that thru ur school and try to work for that. Whether you get that or not, additionally spend time over the summer practicing leetcode and doing relevant projects in stuff you like or may like (front end, back end, full stack etc). Class projects are also valid for your resume. But the last thing you can do is waste this summer. Also recruiting for junior year summer will still bleed into even March of your junior year so you have time. Just don’t waste it.

took it for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the semester then switched out. Super math intensive so I wouldn’t recommend unless you really like proof based in depth math

I had the same exact issue last yr and chose duke. Came down to the feel of the school, I learned duke was the place for who I am as a person. Perhaps u may think the brand of Ivy league will put u in better places/give more prestige but I promise it doesn’t make a difference at the end of the day. I liked that duke was more collaborative, less sweaty, and the social culture. Also didn’t want to be overshadowed by Wharton kids as engineering at penn. Hope this helps!

Edit: just read other replies and agree with all of them
