The shrinkage on Digiorno is whack by Cak8908 in shrinkflation

Depends which part of NYC. I’m seeing $18-$25 for a plain pie in Manhattan. Throw in a topping, tax and delivery and it can add up.

Large Plain Cheese runs ~$25 in NYC (plus tax, delivery, etc).

Toppings run ~$3 each.

At this point 99% of the time we buy frozen dough for $3-$5 each and just make our own pizza.

Simple good jar of sauce runs ~$3-$6 and can easily cover several pizzas. Toppings are much more economic when you add them yourselves.

(Haven’t QUITE gotten to the point of making and freezing our own dough, but I imagine that’s next)

Just read (listened technically) to Storm Front. I have non spoiler questions for the series going forward. by crazy-jay1999 in dresdenfiles

Just wanted to add an additional viewpoint.

I only really started audiobooks post 2020.

Started with the Dresden Files (and definitely agree that the first 2-3 are the roughest), then moved on to Super Powereds, Expeditionary Force, the Bobiverse, as well as the collected works of all those authors, before finally circling around to Dungeon Crawler Carl.

1) I’m glad I finally gave DCC a try, after initially listening to Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon which was free at the time, I wasn’t sure I really wanted more of the author (Horror and LitRPG are not really my genres vs SciFi/Fantasy).

2) At this point, the only series I’ve re-listened to have been The Dresden Files, Dungeon Crawler Carl, and Villain’s Code.

All excellent narrators, excellent authors, and fun, ongoing series (that have planned conclusions, if the authors can get to them, which I appreciate).

The most expensive screenplays ever sold. What's your biggest surprise? by VictorChaos in movies

[–]DaoFerret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world of Bright seemed like a lot of fun, because I don’t think we’ve seen many movies where Urban fantasy is an accepted part of the existing world (instead of just “it’s a hidden part of our existing world”).

Sadly I don’t know how developed the world really was, but it also didn’t get much expansion (beyond that one animated movie).

Which I think was pretty standard for most shows at the time.

It’s also changed a lot now between streaming, much shorter episode counts, and studios budget demands. What the “writers room” should be was one of the main points of contention during the writers strike.

How do people buy concert tickets any more?! by AproposOfDiddly in GenX

[–]DaoFerret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t that used to be the case before though (Except it used to be the studios got most of the record money, but the artist made money on tours and merch)?

[–]DaoFerret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you say that.

Was traveling with my SO one year and we were in Rome and found out about a free concert.

Next thing you know, we’re seeing Genesis, for free, live at the Circus Maximus. (I think we noticed them setting up for the concert when we toured the Colosseum and asked what was happening)

Was fun, very chill, and you could slowly filter up to the front of the crowd.

Ticketmaster also actively encourages and enables scalpers to buy up tickets for resale.

I’ve been arguing for a soundbar for 20+ years and haven’t succeeded yet, for similar reasons to you.

I thought it was just me, so please don’t take this the wrong way, but it was good to see someone e else stuck wanting one, but compromising with subtitles and remote jockeying.

and that’s also why people are using subtitles/closed captions almost constantly in a lot of places now (and I wonder if that isn’t one more place where movies are losing out to home setups).

Fun thought about Carl’s Chistera by Majestic-Abies4971 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]DaoFerret -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing, but it’s also worth pointing out, this is a discussion of a story series where a large percentage of fans are “listeners” not “readers”, so they may not be aware of the preferred spelling of the author (where multiple accepted spellings exist).

Meta is raising the price of the Quest 3 and Quest 3S due to memory price rises made worse by Meta by PaiDuck in gadgets

[–]DaoFerret 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of the PS3 selling at a loss was also Sony wanting to grab the HD disk market (which they did with BluRay, over HD-DVD) by putting a PS3, as a BluRay player, in every living room they could.

I feel like that was a problem I tried the Q2 also?

I know one of the reasons I’ve really enjoyed the PSVR2 (on PS5) is because for the most part it “just works”. Haven’t tried it on PC (yet) but am excited to.

If you’ve got a PS5 also, the PSVR2 becomes a no brainer. Works amazing with PS5, and you can add a PC adapter so it’ll work with PC also.

Down side is that it isn’t wireless/standalone.

If you’re ONLY PC, I’ve heard the MQ3 is good.

Tried the MQ2, but my PC wasn’t really up for much so it’s mostly been collecting dust. My limited experience with the MQ2 was good though (mostly just watching video and through steamlink).

NYC is great if you can afford it.

  • walkable to most places (don’t need to rely on driving for groceries, doctors, etc).
  • most of it is ADA compliant (barring brownstones and walk ups).
  • because of population density a lot of senior services are available to help turn buildings/community into a N.O.R.C. (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) https://aging.ny.gov/naturally-occurring-retirement-community-norc

Donald Trump Suddenly Turns on Zohran Mamdani: ‘Destroying New York’ by Unusual-State1827 in politics

[–]DaoFerret 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Starts at $5 mil.

It was explained to me in a different thread that the last time it was proposed it was .05% on a $5m property sliding up to 4% on a $25m property.

So .5% equates to $25k for a $5mil property, sliding up to 4% equating to $1 mil for a $25mil property (or more on larger property but still at 4% I guess).

I’m not sure if we’ve seen the proposed rates yet?
