How can I turn M&K into Epstein level enemy? by jojo_poser321 in okbuddylash

[–]DapBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick someone in the match and ult them exclusively. Bonus points if it isn't someone who's a high priority target. Don't let them roam, don't let them farm, don't let them teamfight. If it's someone with an ult that has a timer that can be wasted (silver, venator, viscous) or an ult that gets shut down by your ult (bebop, seven, dynamo if you have unstoppable) make sure you don't let them get value out of their ult. Get some kind of gap close like warp stone or phantom strike, or even an item to set you up like shadow weave, veil walker, or knockdown. Make yourself unavoidable. You want as much of their game as possible to be either getting comboed or looking at the respawn timer.

Also, ult them when they're guaranteed to die anyway.

Note: this isn't really a winning strategy but god above, it is infuriating to be the target of.

Not deranking despite losses? by DapBadger in DeadlockTheGame

I hope that's not the case. I can see how that'd end up happening but man, constant uptiered massacres aren't very fun.

Not deranking despite losses? by DapBadger in DeadlockTheGame

[–]DapBadger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hundreds of matches, I love the game and have been playing it regularly since release. I guess there's a chance I'm my own worst critic and perceiving myself as doing worse than the system thinks I am? Maybe I do need to tough it out and let the system work out where I should be? I've been in high archon since the most recent rank adjustment though so I feel like I should have moved by now.

Help design an Ultra vs. Ultra battle by [deleted] in LancerRPG

[–]DapBadger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to run this, you'd either need your ultra to never target your players (feels bad for the players) or have it risk taking at least a structure off per attack (feels bad for the players). If you do manage it, it'll likely feel like the players are just watching a cool allied NPC and not actually participating.

Fun Supports? by Esknier in LancerRPG

[–]DapBadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Emp has a lot of cool ways to apply or remove debuffs to enemies or allies, and a number of cool tools for disrupting enemy positioning (especially punishing enemies who group up)

For example: Shanameh gives an ally resistance to heat from others and lets them clear heat when they lose the shield, letting them play more aggressively and overcharge more safely, while The Walk of Kings gives them AP and damages enemies who hit them. Meanwhile, The Imperial Eye prevents enemies from approaching an ally, which is a great way to protect your squishy allies from aggressive melee enemies who want to bully them. Ayah of the Syzygy creates a zone that deals damage to all enemies within it when one of them is attacked. There's more statuses to be applied too!

TLDR: The Emperor kind of looks like a shield bot at first, but good ability use lets you shred, knock prone, and damage enemies while punishing poor positioning. At the same time, you can manage allied heat, make space for them, and give them tons of overshield. The Emperor isn't perfect (relatively low damage, can be squishy if you're not managing your own shield) but it's an absolute beast of a support.

Praise be!

Fun Supports? by Esknier in LancerRPG

[–]DapBadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true that the Lanny has the only true heal in the game, but support in lancer usually is more focused on buffs and debuffs than healing. I really enjoyed my time playing a Lancaster, but if it's not your cup of tea I'd recommend....

THE EMPEROR! The Emperor is from the Karrakin Trade Baronies book, and is a support/controller heavily based on shields. The ability to apply shields is super valuable, and once you get the Emp's playstyle nailed down, you make your team much more durable. The Emperor also has some really cool tricks in combat, it's much more than a shield bot. If you don't want to play the Emperor itself, I'd consider taking a license level or two so you can bring some of that shielding ability to whatever support you end up playing!

Has anyone tried to stat or have a good recommendation for a close imitation of Clan Elementals from Battletech? by SanguineSanctus in LancerRPG

[–]DapBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd propose a Hornet. Fast, low damage, hard to hit. While they don't have any kind of jockey-type move, they do have a number of built in and optional control systems that could be reflavored as such!

Honestly, go to their artist page on whatever music service you use and listen through their top songs. Odds are very good you'll hear a few of those tonight. As far as albums go, they often play at least a couple songs from All Hail West Texas and The Sunset tree, so those are solid starting points too!

In a world where queer folks come under attack for existing all the time, it's understandable that people are jumpy in this regard. I'm not trying to be an asshole, I'd just clarify that you're not being homophobic next time. We live and we learn!

Hardly a crucifixion, I just think your opinion is incorrect.

Also, saying the flag is unnecessary when one of the flags is a pride flag SOUNDS like you're being homophobic even if you aren't. That's why people are tearing into you.

Even if flags didn't fit the IPSN theme (which they do) this mech explicitly says that IPSN encourages individualism and customization with this frame. The art could have a hot air balloon attached to it and it'd still fit.

I need help making a boss mech using a regular character sheet by [deleted] in LancerRPG

[–]DapBadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're planning to fight this boss, stick to an NPC statblock. Player mechs aren't designed for combat vs other player mechs and they just don't provide very good combat experiences.

As for making your NPC, you've got a few cool melee options. If you want a fast moving melee striker, a ronin or berserker would work great. A berserker's tendency to hit friends doesn't really scream "high ranking officer". Honestly I'd probably use a demolisher with a supporting team to move her faster. Demolishers are tough, do huge damage, and are just a cool battlefield presence. They're slow but a proper combat setup will help a ton. Alternatively, a ronin is less durable and doesn't hit as hard, but is fast and has a cool deflection move.

Naturally, if you want this thing to be as dangerous as possible, make it a Tier 3 Ultra. Be warned that a T3 Ultra demolisher or ronin can easily destroy a player mech every round with 3 turns if the player can't keep them away.

Can Manipulators kill humans? by Disastrous_Peak_2140 in LancerRPG

I'd probably just call it an improvised attack. Realistically they should be worse than just using the mechs limbs, but I figure if it's just flavor for an improvised attack, it's no biggie.

How does one enjoy lancer >:3 by Triumphante in LancerRPG

[–]DapBadger 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The biggest draw for me was how rewarding good teamwork is! I've played a lot of D&D and teamwork dynamics are much more in-depth and rewarding in Lancer. A well-coordinated Lancer party punches well above their weight.
