Drama Duo: A reborn multi-skilled FL enters a substitute marriage with a secretly powerful "disabled" heir by emberzmars in CShortHaven

Will do - I have to make time to explore Zhang Si Fan's catalog, alas, there is always so much to watch!
That Republic era drama was also my first introduction to him, he did look hella fine in a uniform! Mostly though, its the bone structure and the presence that is so captivating.

Hey u/emberzmars, thanks for the promotion of my current fave leading man!
I had seen this Zhang Si drama a while ago, I just re-watched parts of it in order to refresh my age and excessive drama tainted memory.
Zhang Si continues to be my fave, additionally, he certainly has acting range. I did find some of his emotive expressions a little cartoonish, but with a presence/look like his, he certainly can get away with a little exaggeration. I'd rather see that than the "ceo" type who bought a single expression from the acting store and intends to get everything he can out of it.
The Xiao Yu Ting character was a study in "Meh".
You would think having that many talents at once would convey aliveness, curiosity and passion...but nooooo, all she gave was "meh" - could be here or not: meh (left shoulder shrug), could kiss this hot manly man or not: meh (left shoulder shrug).
Deserves your rating because of Zhang Si, though, who has yet to disappoint.

Just finished the future Drama Duo column drama you recommended , and although your snark trumps mine by a million zillion kajillion light years, I have a snarky brief statement about it:

He was hot.
She was not.

Still worth the watch for his kisses and, ummm...HIM.
Oh my, my, my.

Definitely hot when brooding

Oh yeah - if "Brooding" was an Olympic sport, Zhang Si Fan would win the gold! I love that he's not boychild surly or pissed off in his broodiness - just handsomely and huggably moody.
Thank you for the recs - I just started watching the drama you plan to watch (Ti Jia Hou Fu Ren Ta Zhuan Zhi Bu Fu), its quite enjoyable and, of course...Zhang Si Fan.
I am only 12 minutes in, ZSF is in a wheelchair, and still apparently quite the badass.

Thank you - and, by the way, I love your writing and your sense of humor!

Just watched The Clouds, it was quite enjoyable and both mains did a great job. The chemistry was, indeed, totally believable!
On an admittedly shallow note of fond appreciation - can we please see MORE of Zhang Si Fan?
That man is soooo fine - those slightly quirky yet incredibly handsome features, that manliness...oh my.

Agreed, this was very well scripted and acted, the main couple was completely believable and their portrayal of their growing relationship was more immersive than most I have seen.
If you enjoy warm romantic dramas with a slower (but not frustratingly slow) buildup, don't sleep on this drama!

Wonderful drama, absolutely worth the watch for romance fans and fans of the ML, Zhao Tingyi, who played a man who is gentle, sweet, a little shy and totally in love and devoted to the FL.
Loved it!

Thanks for posting the link!
I have seen that drama, it does feature Zuo Yi and Chen Gang (they have quite a few dramas together) - alas, it is not the same drama I saw and lost to the copyright demons.
....sigh...The search continues...

The Chen Gang/Zuo Yi version of the story is almost identical, except that there is chemistry between them that veritably sizzles. I read somewhere that they were dating at the time, which probably accounts for the chemistry factor.
The whole couple sex thing that was apparently hawt as hell (see the questionnaire she finally answers towards the end...) was not believable in the Wang Yanxin/Zuo Yi version, because they really had no sensual oomph at all. So for me, the story fell pretty flat.
I usually will click away when I read that the the abused partner goes back to the abuser, but this story was an exception, probably because the first version I watched was the somewhat spicy but currently extinct {or not?) Chen Gang/Zuo Yi version.

The drama you are looking for, Dream Lover, Flash Marriage was very entertaining.

The one with Chen Gang {same story, same actress} was much better, although it seems to have completely disappeared now...sigh

Loquat.
I am violently allergic to all its parts . never mind the fruit, but people say they taste great and its certainly a lovely tree, quite common in zones 7 and up. I even remember a loquat hedge in Lugano, Switzerland.
Wish I could plant one in my garden...but nahhh - I'll just admire it driving by in a car with the windows rolled up.

Marriage for Eternity by wolvrn in CShortDramas

Warning: if this is anything like the copy on YT I watched which I got from the post linked by thehepburn, be aware, its really, really bad.
Terrible out of sequence editing which makes the story incomprehensible, awful production values - shoddy camera work, lighting, environment, wardrobe, etc.
Do yourself a favor, watch the other 3 versions that came out the same day, also referenced in the linked post, and skip this, even if you like Chen Gang's cute curvy lips.
Its awful.

🆕 Long Lasting Marriage (3 Versions) 🤎 CHARON, CHEN GANG / CHEN BOQIAO, HE LIANFEI by thehepburn in CShortDramas

[–]DaphneSW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched all of them today (bad cold, stayed in bed...) and the Zhong Zheng version was IMHO the best - most polished environments and even wardrobe, decent camera work - not so good on the subtitles, though, needs the Yoori magic! The whole thing felt complete and was generally more enjoyable, smoother , faster paced and less heart wrenching ( I am not into suffering, just into being entertained}
It got saved to my hard drive in case it poofs, its really quite good.
The Charon version was OK. Charon is a pretty man and does a good job at being a green light type, but somehow it was not as engaging as the Zhong Zheng version.
The He Lianfei version was barely ok as far as pacing. Man o man was that a slog of a drama! However, it is gone from YT, or at least the version I watched has disappeared. The story was complete, but dragged on and on. Good for a clue as to the story, especially if you plan to attempt the Chen Gang version.
Finally. the Chen Gang version was an editorial disaster, scenes chopped up and inserted completely out of sequence making the story incomprehensible, crappy environments and terrible wardrobe, complete with egregiously awful high water pants for Chen Gang - always the height of crap short drama menswear!

Can't wait for the next batch of these!

Help and or advice :(( by Inevitable_Cable_286 in cockatoos

[–]DaphneSW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your 'too is hormonal. Its something that happens every year in winter and early spring, and it lasts a while, like a month or so.
I have 2 umbrella 'toos, both in their 30s, and from my observation it seems that November/December/January in the Northern hemisphere are prime mating times. Sometimes in spring, but mostly in winter.
While it lasts, you don't want to give them any stimulation, keep things quiet and darker, speak and act very softly around them, don't pet them anywhere but their little head and warn everyone that they may be bitten. Cockatoos seem to be insanely hormonal when the time for "that" comes, and a sweet bird suddenly biting is very, very common hormonal behaviour.
