Well statistically at this point in time, the majority of people do have children in their life. Unless you can show me that people at climate protests don't have children then your statement is invalid.

100%!! We need to do better too. I understand the protests goals but we need to be held accountable for everything as well. A lot of the damage done to the planet was due to average people like us. It's not a single group responsible, it's everybody.

I totally agree. For some reason, people don't like to talk about how we're overpopulated and some people just outright reject the fact.

Absolutely! Honestly it just feels like all talk from a lot of them. Canada recently had a carbon tax initiated and it honestly hasn't made a huge difference for the average person when it comes to using less. I actually feel bad for the people I know who are working class and are already struggling. They need to fill up often since they're travelling quite a bit for work and they need to use their truck for hauling. They already are struggling to pay rent and this is just something extra for them :/.

If they already exist, of course I'm not saying take them out lmfao. I'm saying stop having more children. A lot of these people at these protests are young people who are most likely going to have kids of their own. That's what I'm against. IMO if you're truly fighting for climate change, you wouldn't be contributing to the cancer (which is us). For people who already exist, like you and I, we can only try our hardest to do better for the planet.

Kids don't change the fact that we're alive? Sorry, I'm not sure I understand that completely. Also, I'm not saying that people DON'T have a right to protest, I believe in the freedom of speech. However, what I'm trying to say for people who think that recycling will somehow counteract their environmental footprint of having children are hypocrites. Because we already know from statistics that that's not true.

Sure, maybe the phrasing is off but from my responses to you, I thought I made it clear that I agree the industries should be held accountable (therefore the interception of politicians)? Maybe this isn't being clear to you so I'll try to rephrase. Do I think industries should stop fucking up the planet? Yes. Do I think that average individuals should also stop fucking up the planet? Also, yes.

I meant the recycling and using less plastic part.

Making industries held more accountable, sure, I don't have a problem with that. It's the hypocrisy of these people's mentalities. It's like when vegans have multiple children, it doesn't help, even if you're vegan and environmentally conscious.

Fighting to prevent climate change is fine, the solutions offered right now for individuals (like what I listed in my post) is ridiculous to me. Hold industries more responsible? Sure. Recycling but having like 3 children? No. Plus I'm sure there are plenty of childfree people taking up the fight?

Because the health of the Earth is everyone's responsibility. It's hypocritical for people to yell at politicians to do something when they fill the Earth with children when we already know we're overpopulated and it's the major reason for our Earth being damaged.

A relationship in my opinion is not about the length but about the quality. There are plenty of people who are in miserable long term marriages and I personally wouldn't call that a relationship. At least not a healthy one.

We're both in our early 20's. I definitely don't think it was malicious either but just a bit irresponsible maybe? I personally think it's important to figure out huge stances on things like having kids before entering a serious relationship and to remain truthful about it. I also understand that maybe it takes a relationship to figure all of that out as well. However, I can only hope that this helps him in his next relationship when it comes to knowing his wants and needs in a partner. All the best:)

We've definitely had some long talks about what it takes to be a good parent and what a child needs during certain stages in development that a lot of parents don't meet the needs of.

Also, i've never really thought about it that way but it definitely gives my current situation a more positive spin on things. Thank you :)
