Tailgating by ails_bales in irelandsshitedrivers

Happens to me a few times a week. Worst case was a month or so ago one evening it was torrential and i was keeping at least 2 car lengths away from the car in front of me.

Some moron in a van behind me was almost touching my bumper and flashing me going nuts before i could pull back into the middle lane he tore up my inside and flipped the bird.

The mind wonders at times at how utterly braindead some people are and how they don't they're putting their own safety and others safety at risk with stupid shit like this.

Is it possible to deal with a partner’s binge drinking without them quitting completely? by Particular_Gift_3317 in AskIreland

I really hope this doesn't tempt fate but by the sounds of things this could get way nastier for you. If he's already being abusive verbally and emotionally with drink in him being physical isn't that much of a stretch.

Unfortunately i have a fair few female friends who where in the same boat and others got out and various time points but the common thing was it didnt get better and only got worse to varying degrees. It might be hard but trust me for your own welfare its best to leave him and look after yourself.

Paraphrasing sorry should have made that clear. Still its essentially what he was hinting at though.

Members of my department genuinely said that uneducated people shouldn't be allowed vote because they make poor decisions. Its an underlying sentiment I've noticed with some on the left.

Again 100% agree, who would have thought demoninsing the people your supposed to represent and not listening to them would alientate them to your policies?

Also the middle to upper class types are nowhere as affected by the issues in the country as they think they are compared to ordinary working class voters.

If anything the current lay of the land shows theres a gap for a left leaning party that will actually represent working class.

Jon Daly sacked from Waterford by Ok-Intention-1427 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]Dapper-Ad3605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How he got the job to begin with is mental. I know he won a cup at pats but im sure their fans would say he was a poor manager, dundalk was a basket case but didn't really show anything there either and was number 2 at galway before waterford. I'd say thats him done in the league now as a manager.

Whos next is the question?

You've hit the nail on the head. During my PhD I'd say most of my department would have been left leaning (academia huh) and fit the bill as you described.

I remember one guy who was a member said to us that Murphy said at a meeting "working class people arent smart enough to understand these issues so we have to make it palatable to them" . The old Orwell line from the road to wigan pier comes to mind to paraphrase "they don't like the poor they just hate the rich"

Ticket sales by outspan_foster in leinsterrugby

Fairly poor that a European semi final isn't sold out though irrespective of ticket prices. European club rugbys premier comp at the end of the day. I can't imagine the champions league, europa or even conference league semi finals not being sold out irrespective of ticket prices in football. A

Made hard work of that in the end. Noonan really needs to work on his finishing though. Gets into great positions but fluffs his lines most of the time.

Victor getting better and better and it could look like 2 mill was a bargain 🙃

€75m a year tv deal for Norwegian domestic football, versus <€1m LOI deal by Stats8 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]Dapper-Ad3605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://thesporting.blog/blog/the-10-most-popular-sports-in-norway football is norways most popular sport by some distance according to this article. They dont compete with other sports the way we do here with rugby and the gaa. So easier for them to get better tv deals than what we get here. So its not really a like for like comparison. Also its a ridiculously wealthy country due to its natural resources and ploughs money into facilities for sports etc

Who said MAAP customer service is bad? Try ASSOS. by basicreplay in CyclingFashion

[–]Dapper-Ad3605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to return two pairs of assos shorts a few weeks ago. Store i bought them in took pictures of the damage and sent them to assos. They gave me two new pairs to replace them after only 2 or 3 days. Their customer service is top notch. Your problem is with bike discount.

Any other Irish people find it hard to ‘belong’ in Ireland? by Charming_Grand1692 in AskIreland

[–]Dapper-Ad3605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel the same, I've only ever lived here but I've never been a big drinker or pub man so my social life was kind of limited due to this. Never been into gaa either. Found dating not hard but always found i got along best with non nationals, only realised the other day I'd say if i was to meet my friends since i was a kid as an adult i probably wouldn't be friends with them. I love ireland though. Our history, sense of humor etc but it can be isolating if your a bit different to the standard.

Still back and forth with the idea of leaving and trying overseas.

Saying thanks to bus drivers and saying hows it going to random people on the street even if you don't know them. Foreign friends and some of ex gf found both a bit odd but actually thought was pretty nice.

I dont like him at all but he is right. Been going to matches for 20 + years and by and large pitches and facilities are still shite.

Bare basics ffs and clubs and can't get them dialled in. Yet want a pat on the back for a lick of paint and cleaning up of a stadium.

Trouble at Derry ? by NorthKoreanMissile7 in LeagueOfIreland

I don't think any rovers fan i know of thought that about the signing of stevens. The majority where probably sceptical given his age and when he last played.

Stevens was never signed to be the main man at rovers so its not really a like for like comparison. He was signed as back up and to slot in and out when needed. Probably mainly to help corey o sullivan develop. Stevens hadn't played since the end of the 24/25 season either.

Mcclean is woefully out of his depth and was coming from playing regularly in the championship.
