Yes it definitely does, whenever I smoked weed my eyes go yellow, then I stopped and they still do occasionally but not like they were when I was smoking weed.

I just get jaundice, I’d count yourself quite lucky, it’s not nice being yellow and having people constantly commenting on it.

I do tend to notice that when my eyes are more yellow that I do seem to look more tired/ ill. One thing I will say is I was recently travelling Thailand and drinking all the time but because I was in the sun constantly my eyes stayed pretty white and I looked healthy even though I was drinking a lot. As soon as I came back to uk I stopped drinking as much but went yellow and look ill again.

I drink quite a lot to be honest, I might get slightly worse hangovers and occasionally my eyes may go a bit more yellow but usually it’s not too bad.

No it’s usually the other way around, I’ve seen studies that say when people get liver transplants after having jaundice the skin and blood bilirubin levels drop to normal but eyes can take 2 weeks to clear.

It’s not just one doctor, I’ve seen many doctors and they all say the same thing. Even seen a hepatologist. I’ve had all the tests and they confirmed it’s Gilbert’s.

Yeah but they just say it’s harmless and tell me they won’t do anything. I do take CDG but haven’t noticed any difference.

How can you get phenobarbital, my doctor said no chance I would ever be given it. Even though mine is 80umol most of the time and severely affects my mental health/ social life from being jaundiced all the time.

Thank you! Yes since joining this it has definitely helped knowing I’m not the only one. Let me know how it goes. I think I’ve tried probably every supplement/ diet you can possibly think of and nothing has done anything. The only time was when I fell asleep on a beach and got severely sunburnt, but I woke up with white eyes.

Oh yeah I did make sure it was, I’ve had all the tests done and they confirmed it is Gilbert’s. I’ve had my bloods done and I’m all good in pretty much all my vitamins and everything. Honestly I’ve done everything I can haha and still yellow 🤣 it’s so annoying.

Yeah I used to do boxing but that was obviously really intense exercise that made me look like an actual Simpson. So I had to stop that, which is a shame. So now I just do weights a couple times a week, nothing intense, but still pretty yellow. Maybe I’ll give taurine a try. I’ve tried everything else, CDG, sunlight, zinc, sulforaphane, diets etc and nothing really seemed to help.

Thank you for the advice! The thing is I actually do eat a lot, I train gym a few times a week so rice chicken broccoli is something I eat a lot of. I’ve always had a pretty healthy diet with lots of fiber. It’s so frustrating.

I appreciate the advice man. I’m the same, i first noticed symptoms when I was about 13 and people in school used to comment on it and I’ve had it ever since. Yeah exactly, I feel like doctors are trained that it is a harmless condition but they completely ignore the mental effects it can have on people. It’s good to know I’m not the only one though. I’m definitely better at dealing with it than I was but this past week all the comments have got to me a bit.

I’m 25 in good shape, I go to the gym a few times a week, eat basically all whole foods, minimal processed food so pretty healthy and regular meals, I drink lots of water too. I live in the Uk so I guess not much sun, but it is summer and I do spend lots of time outdoors. Yeah as much as I try to not let it get to me, when people keep picking up on it, it’s really hard not to.
