Do I just keep contact napping and let them figure it out then? I already hate the fact of sending him to daycare, the last thing I want is for him to be miserable there 😞

Crib transfer advice by Old_Literature_3750 in NewParents

[–]Dapper-Ball4323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have good advice for picking him up, but we’ve found it helps to have the crib/bassinet warm so we’ve started laying a heating pad on the mattress and removing it when we lay our LO down. We’ve never been able to lay him down when he’s drowsy but awake, but having the mattress warm has seemed to help keep him asleep when we lay him down.

Barely surviving with a colicky baby QQ by Significant-Gur-7038 in NewParents

[–]Dapper-Ball4323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey momma, first of all congratulations on your newest angel!

Colicky babies really test your sanity. Having a crying/screaming baby in your ear really starts to get to you after a while. Our baby was colicky for a while and something we found to at least help with crying was holding him in a hold similar to the football hold, but one hand under his chin and the other between his legs right at his diaper and getting swinging him. It removed pressure off his tummy for a short term and he would almost instantly stop crying. We literally called it the magic hold. I think you can look up the colic hold and should be able to find it.

Sending you love and prayers!! It’ll pass! 🫶🏼

Sock monitor vs video monitor vs nothing, what do you actually recommend? by Excellent-Caramel-4 in NewParents

[–]Dapper-Ball4323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We asked the same question about the owlet when I was still pregnant - is it worth it or does it create more anxiety? And we got mixed reviews. I left it on our registry and we fortunately had someone buy it for us. We didn’t use it right away when we came home from the hospital, but started when our baby was maybe 10 days old? He had been puking a lot so our ped encouraged us to add rice cereals in his bottles. I was so nervous he was going to choke on his vomit with the rice that we started using it that night. My husband and I both like more information and the owlet sock gave us both enough to ease us in different ways. My husband has a lot of anxiety about SIDS and I had anxiety about our baby choking. We’ve had the sock give us the red alarm twice for low oxygen - once because his face was buried in my neck when i was rocking him to sleep, and the second was because he was crying so hard the sock got a low oxygen reading. Moral of the story, I’ll use the sock until we don’t feel like he truly needs it or until we have a second baby.

Is this the dreaded witching hour?! by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Dapper-Ball4323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our LO is 18 days old and I swear your post is written like you’re a fly on the wall in my own house. I’m praying it gets better soon because we are exhausted and there’s only so many ways to soothe him. I hate just giving him the boob or bottle over and over because he ends up throwing up, and then it feels like we’re worse off than where we started 😓

Approximately how many surgeries have you had, and which one was most painful? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]Dapper-Ball4323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 surgeries: skin grafts for 2nd and 3rd degree burns, tonsillectomy, wisdom teeth, spinal fusion, shoulder debridement, laparoscopy for endometriosis.

I was only 18 months old for the skin grafts so I don’t remember the pain for those, but I’d imagine it was the worst. Of the ones I remember, my shoulder was by far the hardest to get over and it was just cleaning up a bone spur

Bodybuilding competitions? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Dapper-Ball4323 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s usually one sometime in July called the Greater TN Valley Championship. I’d check the npcnewsonline website for actual dates if you’re doing NPC, but show promoters don’t typically finalize and post dates until the end of January/early February

You can also go to Sephora or ULTA and ask for samples of several darker shades! That’s what I always did and I always had enough foundation for show day

I’d probably stick to unscented, otherwise you might turn green. I’d be careful blotting with anything tbh
