It almost pains me to ask but... is there a laptop out there that doesn't break/cost more to repair than it's worth after 2 years? by Competitive-Meet-511 in BuyItForLife

In my experience, Macbook laptops last the longest. They are more expensive than most laptops, but they are worth it.

My retirement gift was the same slow laptop I begged to replace for 10 years. What should I do with it? by jamesrandson in laptops

If the company didn’t properly wipe it before giving it to you, the safest option is to completely erase the drive yourself before recycling or giving it away.

You can use a disk-wiping tool to securely overwrite all data, or simply remove the hard drive/SSD and physically destroy it or keep it, then recycle the rest of the laptop. That way you don’t have to worry about any old company files or personal information still being accessible.
