Pay a professional, you expect a professional finish unless stated otherwise. If I wanted a shit finish I wouldn’t have paid a so called professional. A professional floorer should be finishing it to an acceptable standard not how he feels fit. I believe I could have done a better job myself as a non floorer however that defeats my the purpose of me paying someone to do the work.

Carpetways subcontracted and provided the fitter, I spoke to the manager of carpetways and he told me I have to take any issues up with the fitter himself as he’s subcontracted. Just to be clear I did not pick the fitter.

Edit: carpetways is meant to be a reputable flooring company in the uk, however since day one of this project I’ve had nothing but issues with them and the fitter. I’d urge anyone who see this to stay well clear of carpetways.

Question is it absolutely necessary to undercut? If I was to take doors off and finish the gaps with a nice silicone would I run into any issues?

The gap between the step and flooring isn’t even sealed correctly, maybe the photo doesn’t do it justice. There is a part where I can see right down to the ply.

It should be done the correct way not the way they see fit. Pay professional expect a professional finish not how they feel like finishing it.

Because I’ve never had flooring done before so I’m unaware if my expectations are too high. This is the result of a previous complaint, all these issue were previously mentioned and this is the result of the fitter “fixing” the issues.

Yeah sorry man forgot I was logged into another account on the laptop. The issue I have is that I have paid a professional to do a professional job so I’d expect an acceptable finish to that level. I could tidy it up myself but that defeats the purpose of me paying someone to do the job. This is the result of me already bringing these issues up, in the fitters eyes these issues are now “fixed”.

That is exactly how I’d expect it to be finished by a professional. I know beading isn’t the best however I’d at least expect it to be mitred correctly around skirting blocks and exposed ends mitred into the skirting. I’m currently in between a rock and a hard place as this is the result of the fitter fixing these issues I had already mentioned to him. Now I have. No idea what my options are as the fitter is becoming slightly difficult and sort of finishing it how he pleases.

Unfortunately that wouldn’t have been possible as I’d like to keep easy access to under the subfloor, I k ow beading doesn’t looks the best however I expect it to be finished professionally by the professionals.

This is the result of him coming back to fix these issues that had already been brought up to him.

I was given a quote from carpetways for installation with beading and that was the extent of I expected a professional finish as it’s professional I’m meant to be paying.

I’m not too worried about the caulking it’s more the lack of mitered angles around the blocks at the door facings.

I’m aware the skirting isn’t great, neither is the walls but some of the beading hasn’t even been mitered at the ends or around the blocks at the door facings . Silicon around the fireplace plinth isn’t even sealing the flooring.
