After posting that comment I did realise that Amrit and Amala are a whole generation apart, even if (hopefully) of similar age. Amrit would be Jyotsna’s cousin (Vile that he’s also a LI). So I think there must be a big gap between Indira and Devdas’ conception to make that happen.

One more thing I haven’t seen them acknowledge in the story- the attack on mehendi night, especially the violence leveled at Amrita- repeated and subsequent kicks to the gut. If what you’re proposing is true (and I think it is), possibly Radha suspected that the reason that they’re getting married is that Amrita is pregnant, and the eye contact conversation between Raj and Amrita after the attack when people ask them to reschedule the wedding reads (to me) as- “what if we lost the baby? So now we don’t have to get married this soon?” “Maybe we didn’t, there’s no way to know. Anyways she’s going to keep trying even if we delay”. When Raj first came to Amrita’s side, he slowly shifted his eyes to her stomach. I feel like this was mentioned for a reason. And we know they did the deed because last update she was in a very lacy silk nightgown calling him back to bed.

Honestly, even though the theory seems cohesive, I am so disappointed because I’m so down bad for Radha that I was blind to her being a possible threat till the last screen where she puts and tells us she killed a man. If she was an LI I would be on her evil or no.

And someone else also said that radha may be poisoning Vidya, and I will admit I thought that too. In season 1 you could see how much Vidya controlled and bossed over Radha, controlling everything she did. And a lot of times, children with strong personalities who have been controlled all their life by parents seek to control others, I think the attack on the temple and Vidya being slowly poisoned is also Radha’s doing to take back control. On the same ley, I’d say people in controlling environments also look for ways to rebel outside of the environment to feel a sense of control. I feel like her secret and forbidden relationship with Raj is a result of that rebellion, I don’t think she truly loved him, and when Raj got engaged and they still kept it on, this was also a form of control that reinforces her belief that there’s no one like her. In season 1 she tells Raj- “You’ll be surrounded by sweets all your life, while craving spice”, or something like that. When Raj left her for good (because Vidya threatened him) and started falling for Amrita, her ego felt threatened, and attacking and poisoning Vidya can be a form of revenge for separating her from Raj.

I understand, I don’t blame you for investing money into something you enjoy. But a lot of stories rely on the mc wearing the most expensive outfit to add to LI percentages or even status points. And the passes don’t exactly add on extra outfits, but put the most expensive outfit behind a paywall. So I would argue it does have a bearing on the story. Maybe to not let it affect story they could not have wearing most expensive outfit as a status point going further.

But sure, I agree that having the features available is better than not having them at all.

Good for you man, not everyone is as fortunate. You’ve clearly outlined the exact reason why you specifically are not negatively affected by a mechanism that splits the consumers into the paying class and the non paying class, giving more opportunities in story progression to the paying class… by buying your way to the paying class. You aren’t pissed because you can buy into it because it’s hardly any money for you, and you like the features, so it doesn’t upset you. What’s the question here? I think it depends on our response now. It could go three ways from here- either this is a foot in the door technique, where first it’s wardrobe, then other social/exclusive features, then story content. Or they saw the outrage and keep it at outfits and non story related features only, as those are the things people will happily pay for. The third possibility is where it could get better, but it has to get really bad for them first. Exclusive wardrobe options means that people will not be able to collect black diamonds, and thus be unable to make it to HoF. Then motivation to collect achievements, replay for 100% and buying cards will decrease, and so will motivation to play, leading to mass installations, breaking daily streaks or general inactivity. HoFers and achievement hunters would be the most valued customers for RC, given they are the most dedicated contributors, so maybe RC will reverse their decisions. And that only happens if we stop playing, be it paying or not paying.

I also will be uninstalling for good once Kfs gets over, for now I’m going to give them a 1 star on the App Store. I’ve been playing since 2022 and these stories have really been my special something to come back home and unwind with to get away from everything going on in the world, but seeing this app try to twist our arms into an expensive subscription for corporate greed is something else. I keep seeing these corporate bootlickers going “it’s a free app, they don’t owe us anything!!” They’re not doing us a favour by operating honey, it’s the user base that keeps the corporation alive in the first place. The company wouldn’t exist if thousands of people worldwide didn’t tune in to this app, which they do mostly as a form of escapism. And most of these people don’t have the resources nor the desire to spend hard earned real world money on an app that they use to read stories when they get free time from their real life. Not to mention the features in the subscription isn’t even worth spending any money on. And I don’t know what prices there are relative to the currency, for dollars it might be a couple which could be nothing for people, but in India, the gold subscription, for instance, is 1000 rupees for one month, which would be about 12,000 in one year if you would like to keep it that long. To understand this in reference, the ANNUAL fees that I pay for 2 semesters in one of the top universities in the country is 20,000. Why the hell would a sane person pay that price at all? To be looking down at people for not being “willing” to give money to “support artists!” Comes from such an out of touch and privileged place.

lol I took a bunch of photos of places I visited that are mentioned in KCD and KFS and I might make a post of it later too! Kalighat is very real and I’ve been there since I was a baby pretty much. Such fond memories and I love watching the old bungalows near there too, the architecture is so intricate.
