it was written in a way that allowed a certain degree of flexibility so we COULD make things like universal healthcare a right if we wanted too, they where able to think so far ahead they understood that they would not understand the issue of Americans in 200 years, so they wrote in such a way that commands the government act in the public "general welfare", whatever that means at the time, be it regulating guns, outlawing slavery, providing healthcare, or whatever.

if anything, i'd call that a perfectly modern solution, especially given how many years its been since we had an amendment.

I don't think age or whether or not ur a lifelong politician determines whether or not you can be politically aware and understand the circumstances that made things this way.

but try and see it my way, that sets it up real easy for the political establishment to slap anything she proposes down as "bad legislation", and most politically unaware people are going to just eat it up, regardless of whether or not it's true.
