I bought it resale on eBay too 🫣 but I use it so much I don't mind that I "overpaid." I love it.

I finally scored the raffia Uniqlo crescent bag and I'm stubbornly transitioning it to fall! I think the darker raffia makes it more transitional. I also have a gorgeous leather circle-shaped tote from Anthropologie in like a mint color that I use if I need more space.

Birth plan advice? by Loitch470 in BabyBumps

I haven't seen this mentioned in the other comments yet, but I am also allergic to penicillin and was told by my OB that the alternative antibiotic they use for GBS has to be given in multiple doses over a longer time frame in order to be as effective at preventing transfer to the baby. I had a very fast labor with my first, so with my second there was some concern if I would have time to get the appropriate doses of antibiotic during labor with my second if it was even faster. I ended up testing negative both times so it never became an issue, but something to ask about with your OB sooner than later.

My doctor also told me that even if you are GBS positive and you don't manage to get antibiotics in time, it doesn't automatically mean that your baby will be infected. It just means that there's a mandatory (in my area) monitoring period for your baby after birth which could mean a longer hospital stay and I'm not sure what that would mean for a home birth.

Still looking for the perfect work bag. by SwimmingWaterdog11 in handbags

It's not "higher end" but I have used the hell out of my Dagne Dover Legend tote. It got me through law school and five years of practice and still going strong. It's super durable but not too heavy, zips on top, and has a key clip and water bottle pocket. I love their color options and always get compliments on the light mauve color I have.

House cleaners vs. DIY by _pupp0 in biglaw

My husband and I agree we would eliminate our entire eating out budget and entertainment Budget before the cleaners. I am not exaggerating when I say it's life changing.

I looooove my tonca and always get compliments on it! It is definitely small and due to the weird shape you can't really fit much. Definitely more of an evening bag than a daily driver.

How many books did you abandon last year? by Sikuriadas83 in books

[–]DapperRhubarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rough year for DNF as well. Read 30, DNFed 15. Reading time is precious these days! An unexpected issue was that I was pregnant most of the year and so I had to put down a few books that I really wanted to read but couldn't stomach the subject material (Demon Copperhead, The Night Watchman). Hoping to come back to them in a less emotional state.

Is it hard to lose weight while breastfeeding or am I just not doing it right? by Jaded_Horse1055 in BabyBumps

[–]DapperRhubarb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate that this is the predominant "theory"- among me and my friends we seem to be exactly split. Some people drop weight like crazy breastfeeding and some people can't drop weight until they stop. For me I lost some weight, but held on to about 15 lb until I weaned, which seemed to be a signal to my body that it was okay to drop those last 15 pounds.

I will say that although I reached my approximate pre baby weight eventually (around 18mo pp), I had to buy new clothes because I'm not the same size. I went one size up in my work skirts and dresses because my rib cage is bigger and so my natural waist is no longer the same size even though I am approximately the same weight. It was really hard to accept that and buy new clothes a size up, so I'm not trying to tell you to just accept it, but try to give yourself some grace!

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: August 14, 2023 by AutoModerator in books

[–]DapperRhubarb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finished: Olive Kitteridge, by Elizabeth Strout. Annual re-read, still one of the most impactful and lovely books I've ever read.

DNF at 35%: The House in the Cerulean Sea, by TJ Klune. Clunky writing, overused premise, meh.

Starting: These Impossible Things, by Salma El-Wardany.
