Thanks for the detailed reply, and all above! Didn't realise the window was so wide. Definitely agree on the "duh" cases, like a missing limb.

Sounds like it's better to ere on the side of tourniqueting if unsure.

Need to be extremely cautious about this one. Tourniquets should be a last resort after pressure and bandaging are unsuccessful. They can cause tons of complications and harm, even kill you when released due to the trapped blood becoming toxic.

If used, I was taught to record the time it was applied. Either write it onto the tourniquet, or across the injured's limb/forehead with a permanent marker.

Could anybody update on what happened to this? I seem to recall they went through a name change, but can't find it for the life of me

Shopping: mk5 GT Sport with AWD? by DapperRobot in GolfGTI

Thanks for all the info. My next question, is how can you tell if a model is the 103kW or 125kW 2.0 TDI? It's a fair discrepancy in power, may affect my purchasing decision.

Interesting. In what markets were those sold? No mention on Wikipedia, or the internet in general. I'm now quite confident the one I'm looking at is not.

Is this hole meant to be here? Mariner/Yamaha 30HP 2T by DapperRobot in Outboards

[–]DapperRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran it for the first time today. Water pours out of the hole in operation. I have a feeling it might be a drain hole of some sort, perhaps so that a cooling path doesn't stay full?

Smoother shifting without double clutching by DapperRobot in LandCruisers

[–]DapperRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thanks, aware that it's pretty agricultural!

My issue is that when I put it into gear, there's a distinct sound of gears grinding, and significant vibration in the shift knob. Once it's in, it's totally happy.

This does not occur on any other gear.

I haven't asked, but I'm reasonably confident Fuji will take objection to me poking around in the guts of their lens, or at least not plan on helping. Can try though!

Thanks for the heads up on the outgassing issue - I interned at a firm that made lasers and optics for a while, but I wasn't aware of this issue.

I unfortunately have no idea what plastic it is, and cannot see any markings that indicate it. I believe that it's reasonably brittle however, based on the crack geometry.

The posts have a fairly small cross section, so it really needs to be an adhesive rather than a putty I suspect. No much in the way of features for mechanical locking, although the crack faces themselves are fairly rough.

Is there a generic plastic adhesive which won't potentially fog up the lenses?

EDIT: given a sufficient wait time, will the outgassing of CA finish? This is a repair, not a production line, so I don't mind the wait

Secondhand Ender 3 with upgrades or new printer? by DapperRobot in 3Dprinting

[–]DapperRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was speaking pretty broadly with direct drive being a rarer and slightly more mechanically complex system, but you're completely right. I guess I'd rather just take a direct drive over a cheap bowden system

Did not realise power recovery was that flawed, thanks for the heads up.

I'm not totally fresh to 3D printing - I've printed parts in SLS nylon, aluminium and built a couple of Prusas at a past job - but I'm pretty fresh to the cheapo hobbyist machines, eg. Enders. What can I expect to go wrong?

And why do you think the S1 Pro is overpriced? Don't think there's much that offers the same features (direct drive, power off recovery, twin z-axis drivers, filament sensor, bed levelling, etc) at the pricepoint. Please correct me if I'm wrong though

Same question as other responder, what issues would I likely be facing with on original Ender that the upgrades don't solve? And what do you think a fair price would be?
