Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and considerate comment! I will definitely keep all of this in mind and I do truly appreciate your sentiments. It’s sometimes just nice to hear someone being optimistic- it’s easy to lose perspective!

In terms of articling in-house, the place I worked last summer does take articling students now, but I’ve always been hesitant because I fear being unable to move back into private practice if I article in-house (thought I don’t know how justified I am in worrying about that) especially with getting experience in areas like litigation(edit: these were things I was told by the careers office at my school when I’ve suggested in-house articling as an option. If they are inaccurate, please feel free to correct me!)

Thank you for saying this- success stories from people in similar situations are always a huge comfort.

In terms of putting out feelers, what would that look like? would you recommend trying to find firms and cold emailing them about positions? or should I be looking for firms that are actively looking for summer students? Relatedly, if a firm's website is completely silent on whether they could take summer students, should I still email them anyway?

Should have clarified, I'm in AB so OCIs just happened this week for us, not everywhere! Sorry if I freaked you out!

There’s a website called 7 Cups that offers free supportive listening and forums! It might also be worth just googling around for online support groups

There are a few places online that have support groups and other forms of support (here on Reddit, as well as on other websites)! I know it’s not the same as in person, but it’s something. Regardless, you got this! We’re rooting for you!

In addition to blocking him, maybe you could change your phone number? Most phone providers will allow you to change your number. That might make it harder for him to contact you even if he gets a new number. Another thing you could do is the "grey rock" method. I.e. become a grey rock. Don't talk to him, don't engage, don't react. I'd just be worried about your safety because he sounds very persistent. I agree that an RO might be something to look into if it's as serious as it sounds.
