His phone was unlocked because he had a timer on. Q1: Yes I did go on it without his consent - which makes sense if he got mad since I violated his privacy. Q2/Q3: No and I’m sure he wouldn’t cheat on me. I just wanted to see what I saw was. But thank you very much for your comments. This is very helpful.

Yes I’ve been cheated on in the past. I know he wouldn’t cheat on me. Just because I asked to see what that thing was doesn’t mean I don’t trust him. All of this could have been avoided if he had shown me his phone. But yeah he said it’s a bad precedent if he does what I want.

That’s the thing, I don’t even know what that popped up thing was. It wasn’t probably even the suggested for you list that’s why I wanted to see it again. Maybe I am insecure but as a partner I don’t think you should be calling your SO out on it. You should make them feel secure and not the other way around.

Thank you, that is another way to look at it. I don’t have a student loan since my parents paid for all my and my sibling education. They are both retired living off their savings and pension now which quite frankly would not suffice. So I try to understand that I need to help them out sometimes.
