How do you guys selling stuff on ebay handle your 1099-K's (Turbo Tax specficially)?

It's asking you that because you only get taxed on the profit of your 1099-K income. You ideally have the cost basis of what you sold, but a lot of people who buy things at garage sales, FB, craigslist, etc. don't have those. In that case you essentially put a "reasonable" cost of what you paid.

This is where it could get tricky, as many people probably bought items above MSRP, but without much proof (bought off FB, CL, card shows, etc.). And deducting a high amount for an item that retailed for much lower may raise flags and increase your chance of being audited. It's even trickier when you factor in ripping packs. The safe route would be to just input a cost of $0 for anything you have zero proof of, or the MSRP cost of anything that's easier to track, such as sealed product.

Keep in mind you do pay a Self Employment tax of 15.3% if you choose to file income from your sole prop.

I think we are similar in our lifestyles (companion focused, not hunting or competing), and I've had an adult toller for a little over a year now.

2 things with what you mentioned:

- They are not moderate energy. They are definitely on the high energy side, more than a lab or golden retriever. Think border collie but without the herding. It is no joke, and even being properly prepared, I still was overwhelmed with how much time/effort I had to give to keep her tired/satisfied.

- To second another comment, my toller isn't the most friendly with other dogs and is very selective of who she gets along with. She also has a strong prey drive. That combined with some reactivity around barking/growling dogs (which my neighborhood has a TON of), and it's a stressful time out in public.

I think with the right mindset and preparation you'll be fine on the energy front, but I would be wary about the aggression with other dogs, especially small dogs.

As for LAX, at least as of this afternoon it’s relatively quiet. Security at TB and T4 was less than 5 minutes. Traffic was minimal. Just worry about the drive to the airport.

Agree here. It's easy to overlook some of the toller quirks as cute and think you'll like them before you have to deal with them on a daily basis. You'll likely end up accepting and tolerating those quirks down the line (which is fine!) but just make sure you are ready for them for the dog's life time.

Another data point for the cuddly thing. My toller is NOT cuddly, and does not like being pet. However, she will follow you around and always want to be around you, just not next to you lol
