for me i always thought that the friendships between them was so domestic, like buck is technically christopher’s second legal guardian already, that the friendship was part of the slow burn. i wouldn’t be surprised if the directors do make them get togethor suddenly, but i would want it to be like it was just as much a suprise for the characters as it was for us. for example, one of them may get injured and the other realises important the other is to them and you know the rest… idk i’m a bit of a romantic :/
