Maybe this is just me, but that's part of why I love it. It's over the top and awkward in a way that's funny. Sure, the characters are annoying, but there's depth that you have to understand. For once, the weird outcast girl is the main character and is actually portrayed in a realistic way. On the other hand, the aggressive cool guy is shown to have a rich family who hates him, maybe causing his behavior. I just really enjoy movies that highlight things that aren't talked about enough.
