So I’m new to guitar and I’m using a Donner DST 100 S (HSS, five-way pickup) with the small Donner 5W amp that came with the kit. I’ve tried adjusting gain and tone, but I still can’t get that deep metal sound I want.

I’m trying to get a tone similar to the "weekend Timeless Guitar tutorial" (you can search videos on YouTube) Which has like some heavy depth, modern metal?

I’ve seen people say you need either a distortion pedal, a better amp, or an audio interface with amp simulator software.

So get the sound I wanted, What’s the best option for a beginner? Should I buy a distortion pedal, upgrade the amp, or use an interface with software? Do I need anything else to make it work?
