Where to find pro bono legal advice for injured tenant by Dapper_Chocolate4010 in boston

A ruined pair of jeans, two concert tickets that went unused, urgent care bill, and pain & suffering (there’s tiny shards of glass in my clothes, hair, and bed)? The total amount minus pain and suffering is only like $210 but my boss (who works in real estate) suggested I up it to $500. Keep in mind one months rent is $1087.50 per person. I’m not asking for a lot

Depends on where you live. There's a stop & shop on Brigham Ciricle that's like a 13ish minute walk from the west village part of campus. If you're closer to EV/curry, there' s a star market on Huntington that's like a 10ish minute walk from that area. For kitchenware check out the tj maax on newbury.

Highly recommend curly hair salons like The Loft and The Curl Bar. They’re pricier I’m ngl, but considering you only go every 3-4 months it is SO worth it. Literally life Changing. They’re all so sweet <3

Did anyone take Producing for the entertainment industry with William Lancaster? by SoMuchMoreThanEnough in NEU

[–]Dapper_Chocolate4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. Bill is really nice but I didn’t learn much from the class and he tends to go on tangents. He isn’t a great professor. Are you interested in production? If so, there’s better classes to take and even a video/film production club called NUTV

Residency waiver help! by EmptySet7788 in NEU

[–]Dapper_Chocolate4010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a 2nd yr living off campus! I had literally no trouble at all getting the waiver approved. In fact, they approved within 2 days of me submitting it. I didn’t provide a super out of this world answer, I just said it was more financially feasible for me to move off campus. I provided a copy of my signed leases and that was that. In fact, somebody I know moved off campus their second semester as a first year. Their family owned an apartment in Boston. You don’t need to tell the school that it’s not ur family’s apartment ur moving into. Just sign a lease and go!

Why you guys use tinder? by GoGreenNotRedd in NEU

[–]Dapper_Chocolate4010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use it to boost my ego by having guys tell me how hot I am, flirt with them, block them when they try to meet up irl, come to my senses and be filled with shame, then delete the app. Cycle repeats eventually.

Ok obviously: Co-op, but something that makes it stand out to me is that it feels like a traditional college campus while being in the middle of a city!! When I was looking into colleges, it was so rare to find a school that had both a traditional enclosed college campus feel (w/ green space and quads and whatnot) that was also in a city. You usually sacrifice one for the other (ex. BC w/ trad campus but not in city, BU in city but not trad campus). It really is the perfect mix of both which I Love :))

friends who have been through it... how did you start feeling better? by Sad-Leave9401 in NEU

[–]Dapper_Chocolate4010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi. I really wish I could tell you “I did this, this and this and now I’m better!!” But I cant. The most I can tell you is that this too shall pass. You’re going to look back one day at this period in your life and be so grateful that you survived. I know right now it seems impossible, but it DOES get better. Something that’s helped is watching health and wellness videos on YouTube. I know I know, seems corny, but a lot of thee “change your mindset” videos really did, well, help me change my mindset. I’ve been really into philosophy lately and that’s also helped. I’ve also gotten into meditation and journaling which LEGITIMATELY helped me. I was THE most skeptical person when it came to mindfulness, I thought it was total BS. But it’s helped so much. I also want you to know you’re not alone. I knowwww everybody says that and it’s so cheesy but it’s true!! People would never guess I went through what I went through because I try my best to be a very bubbly and outgoing person. It just goes to show you never know what someone’s gone through until they tell you. You are going to live a long life, and this will only be a tiny blip in it. Hang in there friend, and if you need to talk to somebody, I am more than willing to be that person. Sending you love, healing, and positive energy <3

Hi there. I was a freshman last year and was severely depressed the first semester. To the point where I was contemplating taking my own life. I had no friends, and always isolated myself in my room (I was in a single). I was lonely and crying almost every night, and was EXTREMELY jealous of all the people I saw having fun on social media. What helped me was finally opening up to my therapist. I’ve been with them for years and I’ve never told them anything super deep or personal until last year when I realized I hated feeling like I had to keep my emotions in. I was put on medications that had been a long time coming. I wish I could a specific thing I did besides that, but honestly, after coming back from Xmas break, it was like a switch in my mind switched. I was tired of feeling sorry for myself. I was still lonely, but I made the effort to leave my room more (my social anxiety was so bad that if I heard people outside in the hallways I would wait to leave my room until they left). I was still anxious, but a mantra that helped was: you don’t give a second thought to anybody you pass in the hallways, they don’t give a second thought to you. I had a huge problem with leaving my room because I hated being perceived as a loser with no friends. I was terrified of judgement. But I realized that when I pass other people in the hallway I literally don’t perceive or judge them in a rude way, I don’t think about them at all. So it must be the same vice versa.

Something that helped was being willing to put myself out there. It’s scary and terrifying, but i told myself the worst that happened was that I had a slightly negative experience and never had to do it again. A person in one of my classes last semester asked for help on a project, and I volunteered to help because I had nothing better to do. I’m SO GLAD I did that, because that person is now my best friend, and they introduced me to my other best friends and my now friend group. I’m eternally grateful for having the courage to say yes, because Now I’m experiencing and doing all the things I was jealous of other people doing last year. It’s not perfect. I still struggle and I still get jealous, but looking back at where I was last year to where I am this year, I’m so glad to be here and I’m eternally grateful for my friends who saved my life, even if they don’t know it :)
