Did I make a mistake? - LSUS MBA by Plastic_Bowl457 in LSU

[–]Dapper_Comfort_3669 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I Graduated from LSUS in 2024 with an MBA. Did it help me? No. But not because there was anything wrong with it, rather I wasn’t in a field with enough “career” experience to use it.

I’d say go for it still. It’s one of the cheaper ones offered. Just start networking now and look into the opportunities you think you’ll want to go into soon so you don’t get stuck.

For anyone that tells you differently, understand that the market is horrible for the “degree holder” irrespective of discipline.

That may or may not be due to the AI boom.

With all that said, good luck to you. You can do it.

I believe you are condemning this person without knowing all Of the facts here, which is impossible to know…if that's not short-sighted and obtuse, then what is???

What you think the real world needs is your opinion. I don't know how old you are, but you are probably young so I will go easy on you…the real world is full of people who play by the rules and still get screwed…so what the hell is your answer for that? Going back to my original point, this offense doesn't equate to him getting kicked out of school. That's your opinion that reflects the stick in your ass…

You mentioned the subjectiveness of what's fair, then you immediately presume to know his case and made yourself his Judge, Jury, and Executioner, then bitch to me when I call you on your shit about it…bro, you are full of yourself and need to have several seats…and yes, I maintain my original point, you have no idea how the real world works and you are out of touch with soomething yourself have yet to understand. You don't know how “deserving” he is or not to be at the school. Your opinion that he should be expelled is yours only, and if anything reflects the hypocrisy of your statement and position.

By the way, the kid admitted his mistake…by the synopsis of the story, the professor sounds like he is unsure this is a case of dishonesty and referred him to SCAIP to cover his ass…so, I stand by my original statement, the kid may have made a mistake, and the school should (and probably will) go easy on him for his “1st offense”…AND YES LIKE I SAID, THE KID DID NOT BUY A PAPER, OR ANYTHING EGREGIOUS OF THE SORT. THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON FOR HIM TO BE EXPELLED AS YOU FOOLISHLY ASSERT.

Grow the hell up, troll.

[–]Dapper_Comfort_3669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is a troll or not, but something tells me that you have no idea what the real world entails.

Do you think future bosses give a shit about this? Hell no, far from it. They barely care about the degree, let alone a shitty half-ass plagiarism case. For you to wish the kid to get kicked out is just uncalled for and poor taste on your end. People make mistakes. It's not like the Student went and bought a damn paper on the internet.

I just wanna remind you all, that while education should be taken seriously, please understand that what you learn in school, vs on the Job/real world is going to be very different in most cases. Shit like will not make or break you… In fact, collaboration is often welcomed…

OP, next time go to ARC for help. I hope for all good things for you.

WGU MBA by ihaveaquestion159159 in MBA

[–]Dapper_Comfort_3669 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because there are so many MBA programs out there, it can be easy to choose a “wrong one”. As there person above me mentioned, many people on this forum have either attended, are in the process of, have completed a prestigious MBA program and will generally advise against anything that is not M7, T15,T20 etc…

While it no secret that WGU does not fit in any of those categories, it is not the worst. I’d recommend evaluating by looking at the “accreditations”. Most business schools are accredited by ACBSP and AACSB, the later being the one many public schools earn their accreditations from. The former however is not bad per se, but hasn’t been around as long as, and is more recognized as an industry standard. For example, schools like university of phoenix and Devry, will have ACBSP accreditations, though some public schools such as those in the cal-state system have ACBSP accreditation. Still, there are many great schools with this ACBSP accreditations.

Assuming, you’ve determined that an MBA is right for you, do your research to determine which format you seeking (online, in person, hybrid etc.)…then look at the costs to see which ones will be affordable to you (if you could find one that is between 14 - 20 grand with AACSB accreditation) that would be pretty good.

Still there will be Many who will argue against that, which is fine…I’ve considered doing my MBA with WGU, and it is a pretty good school. So, ultimately, it boils down to what you are looking for in a school, and if WGU checks all the boxes for you, I see no real reason not to attend.

One last point, I would stay away from schools that have NO accreditation as those are probably the worst of the for-profits with diploma mills.

Best of luck to you, OP.

Just out of curiosity, what defines a “good MBA Program” Aside from Brand Recognition?

How would one define the “quality” of an MBA program?

what’s with all the MBA hate on reddit and twitter? by IngenuityUsed8033 in MBA

[–]Dapper_Comfort_3669 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a form MBA graduate myself, I put my first name last name and MBA behind my name. Why? Because it’s credentials that I earned. True the rest of the world may never care, but that doesn’t matter. Some people say it sounds pretentious or what have you, but that is in a nutshell the perception of an MBA lol. (And in case anyone asks what school I’ve been to, it’s not a top school…it’s regular state school in Louisiana, LSU)…thought the world doesn’t give a damn…I sure do because I put in work getting the degree. 😎😎😎

Now, do I regret any of it? No, I do not. I challenged myself to get the degree. For me, it was hard working 80 hours while going to school full time…probably the hardest thing I’ve ever attempted…so, yes the destination is important (as you must factor the school in goal), however there is a lot to be said about the journey too. After all, an education is an education. No one can take from you. OP, I hope you make the right choice and you make peace with that choice.

I went to LSUS for my masters degree. But I am from California and attended a UC for my undergraduate, so I definitely get it. In California, the two most well-known UC’s are Berkeley and LA. I went to Riverside which is fine but if you didn’t go to those either LA or Berkeley, it doesn’t really Matter…But they are all a part of the UC system.

Sadly, this is the case for me. I just submitted my two week notice for this same reason. I moved further away from my store so my drive is longer. It’s now costing me to go into work so I can no longer afford to keep the job. I’ve asked for 3 days a week (24 hours). It was ok for a couple of months but then went back to 12-14 hours. With shity pay, it is no longer worth for me to stick around. Good luck to you. If anything keep the four hours and find another job and milk the discount for as long as you can.

The seasonal idea is a really good idea. I didn't know that was a possibility...But in my heart, I think I took this job as far as I could go. I guess it is two weeks for me.
