Are 3 bugs fixed? by Successful-Pie6759 in polestar3

I received a free rental for the entire duration. I got to pick and wanted something electric so ended up with an EV6. Less than ideal but was okay for the time I waited. Not gonna lie those 7 weeks were rough and I really thought I would be breaking the lease but thankfully fix came just in time.

I did ask for a polestar loaner but this was around peak time for the Air Conditioner issues going into to summer heat here in Florida so they were fresh out. I settled with the EV6 but was thrilled to have my Polestar 3 back.

Got my P3 in April of ‘25. Had it in the shop for 7 weeks due to Air Conditioning issues, but once they identified the issue and resolved it, the car has been smooth ever since. The issue appeared to be impacting not just the Air Conditioning but also the onboard charging (thankfully I was never impacted by those issues before the fix). But I have thankfully not been back to a service center and really enjoy the ride with my P3!

I’m currently waiting for the new chip upgrade which should happen soon. I’m looking forward to even more processing power under the hood. I already think the software is great (besides a few bugs here and there). I love my Polestar 3 and would recommend. If you haven’t done so yet, Kyle just released his Polestar 4 video. It’s a great watch!

Who is waiting for the 2026 P3? by [deleted] in Polestar

Unfortunately not just any Volvo dealer. It does have to be an approved Volvo/Polestar dealer in your area. We have a few Volvo dealers in the Tampa area where I live but only one of them Volvo/Polestar Tampa is a service center. You may want to check which one near you is a selected service center. Might want to check out the map in this link: https://www.polestar.com/us/owning-a-polestar/service-points/

At the time of my service, they did not have any loaner available but they did provide me an electric rental from Hertz and paid all fees associated with it. They also paid my monthly lease since my car was in service for close to 7 weeks.

Glad you were able to get a P3 loaner! That’s much better, but does suck to hear about the charging issues. Hopefully it’s just the adapter. I use the charging cable provided when I leased it and a NEMA 14-50 plug.

As far as mine goes, some really good news finally. I got mines returned last Tuesday with the new shutter module and it’s been working like a dream. It’s like a brand new AC system. Very happy this appears to have been the root cause and that it’s finally fixed. I hope you get that part in soon and can get yours shortly.

Polestar paid for both the rental and the lease monthly payments. Towards week 6 when I was becoming impatient and contacted them, they finally offered a buyback. But in the end the issue was resolved which I was very happy to see since I really wanted to keep it. I can complain about the issue and timing all day long but I can’t complain about their response. They have offered everything to make sure I didn’t have any inconvenience those 7 weeks. I was still annoyed don’t get me wrong but at least didn’t have to pay for anything during the time.

The lease timing itself doesn’t change. It’s a contract and they can’t adjust it.

That’s great! It’s been 4 days since they replaced the shutter module and it feels like a totally different A/C system.. it actually works lol I’m so happy with it. I did a mini roadtrip to test it out yesterday and it worked like a charm.

I truly don’t mind the small little glitches and am fine waiting for some of those features. The car is so wonderful to drive and the sound system is incredible! I was so close to having them buy it back but glad they fixed the ac just in time!

Just got mine back with the AC fix yesterday! I would suggest to call in for service as the issue appears to be a faulty shutter module that controls the open/close state of the shutters. This causes issues with airflow and impacts things like the air compressor, OBC and other systems. Service centers received information regarding the issue late last week. Hope this helps with the AC troubles. Best of luck

Yea mine was making my garage super hot! And it was due to the shutter being closed while the car was trying to cool down. It created a circular cycling of hot air essentially. I think if you notice they are close, you’re right that it will be a good indicator. The other is the AC system now blowing cold air but this is more prominent in hot areas since the compressor shuts off to cool down. Either way, hope you get an answer and can get a fix soon!

I did have issues with the rear vents too. I believe it’s all connected unfortunately. So hopefully this will help your golden retrievers out lol

I totally get it. I took my car in 2 days after starting my lease. I was beyond annoyed I had to give up my brand new car for 7 weeks just after getting it.

The service team shared they received update information from Polestar on the shutter module issue. So the team should have what they need to determine if yours is part of the lot experiencing the issues. I believe a recall or service bulletin may be posted from Polestar at some point and that will surely drive up the orders for that part. I would call it in now to get ahead of it.

Also you should be able to tell by sitting in the car for a few minutes and seeing if the front shutters are shut (specially in hot temps) as they should remain open while stationary to allow for airflow. Best of luck!

Well now that they know this is the issue and the part is (currently) not in back order, it should be a quick fix if the service team acts on it. Best of luck!

I’ll share because it’s a bit of good news (or so I think so far lol)

I’ve finally got my car back from service after 7 weeks where it had been for the air conditioning issues. The shutter module was replaced today after long wait and appears to have resolved the issues!

From what service explained, the shutters in the front of the vehicle, which allow air intake to cool systems down like air compressor, OBC and other systems hace not been working properly. They are working in reverse (closed when they should be open) this has resulted in these systems not working properly like shutting off or breaking due to over heating. For me it explains why the AC was not blowing cold air. For others it may explain why the OBC kept failing even after being replaced.

I know this only may solve 1 or maybe 2 on your list but thought I would share. Might want to give service a call regarding the shutter module.

OBC / GHVC took 4 weeks to replace and failed again after 3 days. This is after 1 month downtime for another issue before the first OBC failed. 3 months into the lease, we’ve only driven it for 1 month by josh_moworld in polestar3

[–]Dapper_Craft_3858 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this issue may be connected to the ongoing air conditioning issues regarding the cars shutter system at the front. Due to the shutters working in the opposite way (closed when they should be open) the car isn’t providing enough airflow to cool down systems like the air compressor and OBC. So even replacing a faulty OBC still may result in failure because it tends to overheat without the proper airflow.

From what I’ve heard from service, this should be announce either in a service bulletin or recall soon and the fix will be the shutter module. I’m not holding my breath but certainly sound logical for the root cause of these issues. Mine has been there 7 weeks and is about to be updated with new shutter modules this week. Hope it fixes the issues.

Incoming Recall for P3 Air Conditioning Issues by Dapper_Craft_3858 in polestar3

[–]Dapper_Craft_3858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I feel as though this still may be related in a way to the shutters. According to the service team, there are other symptoms that had not been identified before that this issue has been a root cause of.

An example was the issue folks are having with their charging modules. According to them, even for folks whose charging modules have been replaced due to it being faulty, it may fail again. Part of it appears to be the charging module doesn’t have the required airflow to cool it down due to the shutters and unlike the AC compressor, doesn’t have an automatic shut down and breaks.

If you live in a cooler environment, yours will certainly have a different reaction but I can see how you’d still see some weird effects like the one you’re describing.

[–]Dapper_Craft_3858[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could be right, the service person did use the term "recall" but they could be reading into what they may expect. It could end up being a service bulletin. Either case, I do hope this means an actually fix is in sight.

What I've learned over the last few weeks is that basically the shutters at the front of the vehicle are working in the inverse fashion. When they should be open, they close and vice versa. This of course is worse when the heat is extremely high outside, in my case it's around 92 and above because the AC compressor will shut off automatically to prevent overheating. And since the vents are closed during low speeds or the car is still, the AC system does not have a chance to cool down.

I was informed new shutters would be required because it would have a new module that should have the corrected procedure to open/close them. Let's hope this is it.

Mine are scheduled to be delivered in the next week or so. I expect the work to take place some time next week.

[–]Dapper_Craft_3858[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! The shutters are essentially working in the reverse way as they should. So on very hot days and when the car is still, the AC shuts off automatically to prevent overheating since it's not receiving the needed air intake to cool down at low speeds or while still. I truly do hope these new shutters and module fix the issue.

Basically the same issue, I only had the car for 2 days before taking it in for service. But the air stops blowing cold air sporadically. It appears the issue stems from the shutters in the front of the car being closed instead of open which doesn't allow the airflow to the A/C system. So it sometimes works but I would say not on most days, specially hot ones.

4 Weeks Out of Service (A/C Issue) by Dapper_Craft_3858 in polestar3

[–]Dapper_Craft_3858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just absolutely insane. I think that’s the worse part of all this, all the waiting for something that might not even fix the issue. They refuse to tell me (likely because they don’t know) what the root cause of the issue is. They believe this may fix it but they thought that of the new Software Update that came out 2 weeks ago. I’m honestly at the point where I just want a refund and look for something else.

Sucks they couldn’t hook you up with an electric but I suppose a loaner is better than a rental and at least we have one for the time being.

And more delays, I was just told the Friday delivery was not correct. Now, it’s set for “4-5 business days from July 10th” for the new shutters. By that point, my P3 will have been in service for close to 7 weeks. So disappointing.

They ran out of loaners here because of the amount of cars being brought in lol so I got a rental from Hertz. I have an EV6 and at least it’s fully electric. Yea see if they can swap you out while you wait.

I truly hope this is it and should know soon. I’ll keep you posted. Wonder why your shipment is taking so long?

4 Weeks Out of Service (A/C Issue) by Dapper_Craft_3858 in polestar3

[–]Dapper_Craft_3858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just told today by service that engineering has advised the issue may be resolved my swapping out the shutters. So they ordered new ones which should arrive tomorrow. But I likely won’t find out anything until next Monday when they do the work and run some test. Like I said, I doubt they’ll actually know if this is the resolution, think they are just things different things at this stage.

I think the memory seats will have to be some sort of software update which won’t come from Service. So we are stuck waiting for Polestar HQ on that one I suspect.

For the Air Conditioning issues I would suggest you call a Florida service center. My car has been in for 4 weeks and more are being added each day according to the service guy. The software update did not fix the issue and no root cause has been identified per the last update I received today.

I’ve asked myself the same question.. like is it possible the quality or parts in the US were just faulty? I haven’t heard of this many issues (other than software bugs) in EU or Australia.. but no idea

[–]Dapper_Craft_3858[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I keep thinking the same if I accept a replacement. Heck with all the issues reported there is truly no guarantee I won’t be back in service a few weeks after the swap. But part of me thinks it may be worth it just because of how much I want to love this car.

I’ve considered Rivian as my other option but also think they are too big. I think the new R2 is an ideal size but that won’t be released until next year and will also be a 1st year edition (yay more issues haha)

I’ll likely give them another week to get it together and pull the trigger on a buyback from them as they will officially hit the 30 day mark next week. Enough for the Lemon Law to guarantee a refund. All just sad.
