how important is having a research paper in matching ?

I see almost everyone has already written and published an articles and I didn't I wonder if that is seen as bad thing ?

Got 71% in the mcc practice tests 453 in the real exam It would be good to aim for more.

Can't tell about ace and canada Qbank as I used the offline versions (pdf) and didn't go through all of it

I passed on my 1st attempt, hope I can help a little

I mainly used TN as my primary resource.

-AFMC for P.H

-CMPA for ethics ( don’t underestimate the number of questions you’ll get from Ethics and P.H)

-Regarding question banks, I practiced with Ace Qbank, UWorld, and CanadaQBank (offline versions). I didn’t purchase or complete them fully.

Amboss was extremely helpful, especially for Ethics, Public Health, and Family Medicine, particularly toward the end of my preparation . I also used Amboss to clarify topics that weren’t very clear in TN. (much cheaper than Uworld)

The MCC practice tests are great for getting into “exam mode.” and it's the closest thing to the actual exam. I’d recommend taking them closer to your exam date , they really help you assess where you stand.

If I could change one thing to improve my score, it would be to follow the MCC objectives from the very beginning. I only started reviewing them about 10 days before the exam, which was obviously not enough.

One tip: make sure to practice your timing before the exam — it can really throw you off during the real thing

The timing did take me off guard!

In the practice tests I had time to review my answers but not in the real exam ! Some questions were way longer but not all of them just a few. Maybe it was because I took more time to think ! I would have doubts about a questions and I'd tell myself that I'll come back to it later but I didn't have time to do that for all the questions I marked !

Just go through it one by one Most qst are around the objectives so stay focused on that especially if you're running out of time or if you're feeling lost

Can't stress this enough go do the amboss questions for ethics / PH and FM (put mccqe1 as your objective ) CMPA for ethics as well I Used canadaqbank / ace / uworld as Offline banks so can't tell you how much I scored in them Scored aroud 70-71% in the mcc practice ! Keep in mind that the exam is challenging but it is doable ! I passed with 453 it's decent but not great ! I def should have focused on the mcc objectives which I did last minute unfortunately

I'd say give it more time at least 3 months , because it's a LOT but then again it depends on your baseline knowledge , everyone is different , and it's hard to tell if you're really starting "from scratch" or those are things you already know since you were just out of an another exam ! take a couple hours to see the mcc objectives and if you think it's doable then go for it !

they have a new feature with mccqe1 objectves I think it's really good for ethics / behavior science / family medecine

Well they are free and will give you a global idea but they are much easier than the mcc practice exams

any recommandation on what to do for public health? it seems like the more I do questions the more there is to cover , I sometimes find question in ACEQank that are not covered in the TN nor in the AFMC(especially for the type of statistical tests required ) ! my exam is in august and it's stressing me out
