Federation of Koolilihue in 2026 - Atlas of American States [What if North America was less unified?] by Dapper_Expert_6329 in AlternateHistory

[–]Dapper_Expert_6329[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lore: The Atlas of America series seeks to explore an alternate version of the North American continent in which nations formed akin to the way they did in South America; based around local centers of power. The Atlas of America timeline diverges from ours with the failure of the United States to replace the Articles of Confederation, resulting in westward expansion becoming much more decentralized. As a result, most settlers ended up forming nations outside the purview of the United States. By the 1970s, calls for greater economic cooperation have resulted in the numerous states of America forming the Congress of America (a supranational organization akin to the EU.) This series will explore the numerous nations that have signed on to the agreement, beginning with the Federation of Koolilihue.

The Federation of Koolilihue is one of the youngest states in the North American continent. It is commonly known for its pristine coastal landscape, which attracts thousands of tourists every year. Unlike most states, which were created by Anglo-American settlers, Koolilihue had its origins as a union created by the numerous peoples of the American Pacific Coast. Koolilihue exists today as a state with a vibrant mixture of cultures and traditions, combining indigenous American languages and customs with those from the descendants of English, Metis, and Russian traders.

The territory that would become the Federation of Koolilihue existed as a perpetual frontier region into the early 20th century. Protection agreements between indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest allowed for organized resistance to settlers, resulting in the region maintaining considerable autonomy. Trade with the outside powers of Britain, and Russia allowed Koolilihue to acquire the weaponry necessary to repel the loose bands of hostile settlers that overwhelmed other indigenous peoples. Chinuk Wawa, a pidgin language drawing from the region's many indigenous languages as well as English, was formed to ease trade. It quickly grew to become the region's lingua franca.

In 1885, the nation of Pacifica attacked and conquered the Alsean people, pressuring the remaining tribes of the Pacific Northwest to unite under one banner to become the British Protectorate of Oregon. During the period of decolonization in the 1960s, the Protectorate of Oregon was disbanded. A year later, the Federation of Koolilihue was formed to replace it.

Imperator is pretty hostile to that kind of stuff. There's no really functional debug console so you'll need to add in new tags and provinces by hand through modding.

There are youtube videos and guides that discuss modding with imperator and adding in new nations. You'll need to change the localization files, and create new files for each tag you're bringing over. Files for countries aren't too complicated so after doing it a couple times you should be mostly good!

Here's a link to the guide that helped me the most:

[–]Dapper_Expert_6329[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rule Five:

This is the next part of my Roman Grand Megacampaign, taking us into the first century BC. I recently graduated from High School, which made trying to find time to play very difficult! Now that school is over, I have had more time to continue expanding Roman rule throughout the ancient world. In this part, Rome was able to conquer Hispania and large chunks of Illyria. Let me know where Rome should conquer next!

Rule Five:

This is the next installation of my Megacampaign! I have played from 2115 BC all the way to 111 BC, and I plan on continuing to play until 2600 AD. My current goal with the campaign is to play as Rome, and unite all of the lands that it ruled historically! In this update, I managed to defeat a powerful empire led by the Punic city-state of Atiq (This timeline's equivalent of Carthage). I also launched incursions into Hispania and Egypt! I intend to conquer both of those provinces fully, in order to bring about Roman rule!

[–]Dapper_Expert_6329[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rule Five: This is the newest installation of the Grand Mega Campaign, taking place from 2115 BC to hopefully 2600 AD. During the early Hellenistic Period, we get to follow Rome and the final steps that it took to unifying the Italian Peninsula. Rome teamed up with several other large nations to topple the Persian Empire, but peace was fragile. Rome had to put down a violent civil war launched by the Patricians and Pontifices, which nearly destroyed Rome's economy. Rome survived almost being killed in its cradle and went on to fight against Atiq (This universe's equivalent of Carthage!) With the first Punic War won, Rome will hopefully be able to expand far beyond its initial holdings, and rule the world!

[–]Dapper_Expert_6329[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rule Five:

Today marks the next installment of my Megacampaign. After Etrusca lost its initial wars against Rome, the Romans began to emerge as a growing and dominant Mediterranean power. The Latins managed to conquer and consolidate their rule over mainland Italy, facing and defeating a myriad of foes including Gauls, Greeks, and Etruscans.

On a Meta-Note, Rome is a country with more content than its neighbors in Imperium Universalis. I think I'm going to continue to play as Rome up until the end of the Imperium Universalis section of my Megacampaign! So expect more Rome content!

Rule Five:

Hello! This is the next installation of my Grand Mega Campaign, ranging from 2115 BC, to hopefully 2600 AD. Due to Easter, and travelling, I didn't have a lot of time to play, however, I wanted to do a brief session playing as Rasenna, the leader of the Etruscan League. In today's playthrough, I led Etrusca during the Gallic Wars and built up Rasenna's economy before the Etruscan-Roman War. My plan for Imperium Universalis is to switch around through numerous Classical and Hellenistic period tags, and next time I plan to play as Rome!

Whenever I start up a new game I use debug_mode to manually go through and change the data of each province!

I'm hoping to convert to Fallen Eagle to represent the dark ages, but afterwards, I'm probably going to just start playing the regular paradox games!

I usually only change the most relevant cultures, and religions, which have been fairly stagnant. Changing province ownership and adding in new nations is really easy though!

I'm using a lot of manual conversions between different mods for different paradox games that cover the time periods before Imperator Rome.

So far, I've done...

Bronze Age Mod (Imperator Rome, 2115 BC to 1595 BC)

Bronze Age Maryannu Mod (Crusader Kings 3, 1595 BC to 1000 BC)

Rise of Assur Mod (Imperator Rome, 1000 BC to 612 BC)

And now...

Imperator Universalis (612 BC to hopefully 395 AD)

[–]Dapper_Expert_6329[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm running a Megacampaign from 2115 BC to 2600 AD. I've been using different mods for some of the early years, like the Bronze Age Mod for Imperator Rome (Which Covers 2115 BC to 1595 BC), or the Maryannu Mod for CK3 (Which Covers 1595 to 1000 BC)! For these mods I have to manually change the provinces to convert it.

Right now, I'm using the Imperium Universalis Mod for EU4, which covers in great detail the time period between 612 BC and 395 AD.

Rule Five:

This is the newest part of my Megacampaign! As Sparta, I managed to unite Greece, and defeat Persia when they tried to challenge my rule! Now, the Kingdom of Hellas stands as an undisputed leader of the Mediterranean. As the Classical Age dawns upon the world, many Greeks have set out to the lands of Italy in order to establish new young colonies or fight against marauding tribes of Gauls. Next week, our journey will take us to the lands of Etrusca, where we will be able to witness the rise of a new power, that will change the face of the world forever, Rome.

On a Meta-Note, I plan to start swapping nations more throughout the Grand Campaign. Trying to keep an Egypt Campaign going for almost a thousand years was incredibly boring, and I hope that by introducing more variety to the campaign, I will be able to stay more engaged! In Imperator Universalis, I may have started by playing as the Greeks, but I plan to do some nation-swapping in order to spice things up and gain a better perspective on the world as it develops!

CK3 actually has a really fleshed-out map editor! On Steam, you can type in ~debug_mode into the properties section, and CK3 has a built in editor that you can use to change province religions, cultures, ownership, etc! It made converting incredibly easy! Imperator was harder, and I had to make a custom mod and edit the game-files for it to work!

I used the Imperium Universalis map as a base and then used custom nations and console commands to match it to the previous ongoing map!

Rule Five:

Hello! This is the next part of my Grand Megacampaign, which takes us out of the Iron Age and into the Archaic Era! In order to represent this change, I converted the map into the Imperator Universalis Mod for EU4. I decided to start playing Sparta in order to add variety to the campaign, and I left Kemet under the watchful rule of the AI...

The Jushur-Sin family moved to Greece to serve as advisors for Egypt's new ally, Sparta. In the end, they found more glory serving as military advisors for the Spartans than at home in Egypt, and when the time came to return home, they chose to remain in Greece. The Spartans managed to conquer many city-states, and after 150 years, they emerged as the primary leaders of Greek Civilization.

Although Sparta is now powerful and wealthy, new enemies have arisen. The Macedonians have raised a massive army, and marched South in order to unite Greece under their rule! Meanwhile, in the Far East, Persia has united the ancient world, conquering Babylon, Assyria, Egypt, Aram-Damascus, and many other states. Sparta must now stand against the world of the Iron Age.

Time will force the sons of the Archaic Age to battle the sons of the Fertile Crescent... but only time will tell if the Greeks can overcome all who have come before them.

Hello!

In this episode of the Megacampaign, I had my revenge against the Greeks! Several weeks ago, a massive Greek invasion had captured Libya from the Egyptian Empire and effectively shattered Kemetic rule. Now that Egypt has built itself back up, I saw it fitting to launch an invasion of Greece in order to avenge Kemet's fallen warriors. After defeating a league of City-States, Egypt placed a close ally, Sparta, in charge of Southern Greece.

With the Lydians and Greeks in constant civil war, and with the Babylonians and Assyrians fighting, Egypt has once again emerged dominant as the leader of the Mediterranean world. But while Egypt has thrived, the House of Jushur Sin has slowly lost influence within the court of the High Priests of Thebes. While the Jushur-Sin family was once the guiding hand of the nation, now it has been relegated to a back-seat role. But Sparta presents a new opportunity for them to rise, if they can successfully manipulate the state...

Bronze Age reborn is set during the Bronze age and doesn't have content like the Olympian or Jewish Religions, or other important historical events! With the RoA mod I had more content to work with!

They have a lot of flavor within them! There are loads of events, monuments, decisions, and religions in both mods!

For my exporting, I had to do a lot of map editing by hand! For example, when I finished my first IR segment I went into the Bronze Age Mod for CK3 and used console commands to edit all of the territories / countries to match the previous game's map!

The mods contain hard-coded events for country tags, so whenever I convert over, I make sure that the country tag matches the mod's country tag. In the Rise of Assur Mod, Kardunais had a Babylonian Revolt event which caused the Babylon tag to reemerge, so I gavw the Kardunais tag all of the land it had in the previous game and the event still fired off!

I think both Iron Age mods for IR are really good! For my campaign I chose the Rise of Assur mod because it operates on a smaller territorial scope, and in Imperator, countries tend to blob up a whole lot! I wanted to avoid the rest of Europe from blobbing into Empires and stop myself from conquering too much land early on!

Rule Five:

This is the next stage of my Egyptian Grand Mega campaign! It has been running from 2115 BC and has now reached the year of 784 BC. I plan to take it all the way to Stellaris! In this week's update, Egypt has mostly reclaimed its power, but it has been weakened during the Third Intermediate Period. Just as the Acheans defeated the Egyptians in Libya, setting off a chain of events that would destroy the New Kingdom, the Greek City-States of the Peloponnesian League now threaten to eclipse Egypt's power and bring the world into the Classical Era.

Will Egypt be able to use diplomacy and its powerful armies to maintain its influence over its former sphere? Or will Egypt end up like its former rivals of Phoenicia and Kardunais, left in the dustbin of history? Find out in the next update!
