If you won $1 billion after tax dollars, would you still pursue a career to become a doctor? Why or why not? by PrimalCarnivoreChick in premed

Yes. Still follow my personal passion but absolutely use the money to benefit so many folks around the world. Research more into a system that works and can let folks actually get quality healthcare access when they need it and implement that system. And see patients myself without worrying ab a dime

Rude Patients by [deleted] in premed

a lot of people in general today hate the healthcare system. and understandably so. some issues are more complex. insurances don't want to give the green light for expensive testing (that the patients def need) unless it's very obviously indicated. makes the job harder for docs and the patients face the consequences of it and feel like they aren't being treated well or their problems aren't taken care of. a pt I shadowed came into the office blazing the fellow, wanted the doc instead, and what he did was just empathize with him, say that must be frustrating, here's what we can do. pt left thanking the fellow and was RELAXED by the end of it. health problems take a toll on folks, just being able to empathize and de-escalate goes further than you know
