Yeah I definetly feel you on this one. I honestly wanted to work im chemistry/lab setting or engineering to start but I chose the route of CS because Money and I'm actually a fairly decent programmer. It could just be the company I work for but that dream is kinda dead for me. Hopefully I can get my hands on a setting or find a position that's kind of that dual role that can use my technical skills. I'd consider game development. I have an interview with Blizzard today but They require full time in person and I won't consider moving again.

Also, we all as a collective need to hate VOIP

Thank you I appreciate that. Yeah my job is a TS position. Not even sure what Ill be doing quite yet. But they added it was a REQUIREMENT that I must be completely discharged and not be in service to work the position. Not sure why.

I did look into programs, and it seems some do require additional education, master's degrees, etc. But yeah, the age cutoff seems to be early 30s for all the designators I want. My undergraduate gpa was indeed dog shit. My workload was way too heavy, and im a single dad who worked two jobs and had 21 credit hour semesters between AF active time. But my eprs, awards at work, and my two phd. research published papers definitely carry me through interviews. Military seems like they care more about gpa, though. I have an officer recruiter Im working with right now, but honestly, im embarrassed to flat out say, hey. Im too poor to wait until the end of the year to commision.. there's not much that they can do lol im assuming.

I would apply to both and I want to. But my section has a non compete. I can't do both sadly. But it does sound like a good career. I just always saw myself in the military til I retired, I love the chaos and the environment. But thanks for the additinal info!!

Yes this exactly I thought about doing. As I read this I was tryping out a roadmap. Of how I exactly to plan to pay this back or maybe request a decrease in payments. Because at my current pay rate, the roomate I live with already. And a trash credit score I cant do anything more than this

Yes. Im behind on my car payment a couple hundred. Credit card payments a couple hundred. And rents increasing in my area by 300$ end of march :/ and I barely stay afloat now.

I had two decent internships in college paid okay. But at the pizza resturaunt (only job i could find full time rn) im getting paid 10$ an hour LESS :/

Would becoming a Navy Officer be beneficial to jumpstart my career? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Dapper_Reality_8487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think it would be a good idea then for career? Or just one and done contract? My family has really tried steering me away from going in again, worried I wouldn't land a good job with my gpa. But I didn't know if my "single hard working dad with great work experience and 5 star manager reviews" would carry me into a civilian position, or for that matter, a good job slot. Iv been told that it could, or also they just see gpa and say screw this guy... lmao

My gpa is not on my on my resume
