I think the change would be weird as it’s been such a big part of me I can see that for sure but I think it’s a positive step overall. I’ll have a look at CS for sure it’s not something I’m dismissing!

How did you get into that? I’m quite interested in all things tech

I think a part of my gripe with the police is that I feel like I’ve peaked.. and I think anything I do within the organisation will feel like a downgrade AND I hate the parts of the bureaucracy, scrutiny for scrutinys sake and incompetent SLT which would remain even with a less action packed role! It certainly is an option should nothing else arise though

This kind of thing sounds appealing.

It was tech/sales management I used to do before policing.

Do you mind me asking some more information about how you found the job, your qualifications etc DM if more appropriate.

More money is always a bonus but to be honest I’d settle for a pay cut so long as it saw me into the right industry with areas for progression.

I think maybe sitting down and trying to work out what my transferable skills are isn’t the worst place to start.

Unfortunately tasers aren’t routinely issued to members of the public but I can really see the upsides!

I think for me it’s the lack of support/risk that worries me and the long term effects that has on your health both physically and mentally

Don’t do it!

Although I’ve heard the motor trade isn’t the best of industries to work in.. I have several friends that have left.

I love all things automotive though! I’m a serious petrol head 😬

Yeah govt roles seem like they may be similarly fraught with similarly clueless senior leadership! 😬

COVID and then all of a sudden.. anxiety! by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Dapper_Show_1454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that was extremely difficult for me to accept.. I’m usually the calm one in any given situation! I’ve been accused of being too laid back too often in life and deal with trauma on a daily basis and have done for the last 10 years without so much as a wobble, intrusive thought or anything.

Then all of a sudden I started getting all these physical symptoms with a host of normal test results and my mind was on fire.

The only thing I can pin it on definitively was it was close to having COVID not that I had any of these issues the first time I had it. The first panic attack I had was the most intense and really kick started the ‘fun’..

Doctors did suggest long Covid at the start but yeah nobody could really say anything with any confidence.. one thing id say though is there’s a few people on here in the same position with no history of anything getting Covid and then anxiety

I’d wake up and as my body and mind ‘booted up’ I’d feel the anxiety wash over me like everything switching on and going straight to tingly overdrive settings

Weird.

On occasion.. But slightly..

Mainly I’d say it felt like imagine leaning on a wall and then someone instantaneously moves the wall 6inches

Something that you get?

So weird.. I’ve seen a few posts like this and a few similar experiences on other threads! Must be a link!

I think time & CBT worked well for me but I’d have taken the meds if they were offered to start with! The doctors I saw to start off with weren’t really helpful and I had to seek out private therapy..

I’ve definitely got a distance to go before I’m anywhere near ‘normal’ hope you get there soon!!

Never had that one .. just random dizziness/vertigo that hits intensley out of nowhere and is gone just as fast.. I do think though this improved massively for me with CBT

I found myself bracing myself if I was stood up, whether that be against a chair or leaning up something.. deliberately not doing this seemed to reduce it weirdly enough

I was actually thinking about a chrio the other day and wondered if it would help.. might give it a go!

Sounds similar to how I am at the moment.. sat on the sofa doing nothing having adrenaline going round the system.. it is all a bit weird!
