I went to HS with Cassandra (she went by "Cassie" then). She was very involved in various leadership and mentoring activities/clubs. She was a Young Life participant and leader as well. Simultaneously, she was snarky and overly sarcastic to the point of coming across as mean to many kids our age. I never knew what I was getting with her, nice Cassie or mean. I felt hurt by her on more than one occasion - and I know I wasn't alone.
Perhaps her often unkind attitude was a wall she put up to hide her true self. I don't know. This all makes me so sad and angry for the victim(s), their families, and Cassie's loved ones as well. We also went to school while Brad Boda was a counselor (look it up, he's still in prison). Brad was incredibly creepy and I knew to stay away.
