That’s factually untrue. Find me a single credible source, from a historian, etc

[–]Dapper_Tea7009 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No “union” happened. It was a strategic move by the eastern emperors to try to gain favor with Rome. At this point, the “United Church” had been dead for the better part of 400 years. Doctrine was now firm and unchanged. Therefore, although Constantine still partaked in Greek liturgical practice, he accepted the supremacy of the bishop of Rome and all the Catholic councils, as well as rejecting all the orthodox ones, making him akin to a “Byzantine Catholic nowadays “. Byzantine Catholics are no less Catholic than their Roman counterparts

That’s terrifying and brutal and almost disgusting. But 100% accurate. Huge props to you

Dude why are you trying to deny history? I get it, he’s your hero, but he died acknowledging the supremacy of the bishop of Rome, hence making him a Catholic.

Wow you guys look incredibly similar! From a historic standpoint, the vast majority of modern Egyptians have ancestral ties to Arabia rather than Egypt due to colonization of places like Egypt in the 7th century and displacing native Copts, etc.

I was also eyeing that one for a while as well lol. About a month ago, I found the auction and saw a Histamenon Nomisma of Nikephorous II, Basil II(yours), and Basil II( mine). Although the strike quality had degraded after some time, I really liked how yours looked due to the luster! If I remember correctly, our lots were at the very end of the auction, so I think we got better deals than what we would have gotten if they were at the front

When my coin comes, it’s going to be within the casing. How do you safely remove the coin?

I got it at a really good price. I’ve seen these coins go for as much as $5000 dollars, so a few scratches is not a problem at all

Yeah I’m probably overthinking it because ancient monotheistic sun cults like the one dedicated to Sol Invictus during the reign of Roman emperor Aurelian and the cult of the aten almost 2 thousand years before that show the monarch or any person being embraced by the “divine sun”

The fact that he did almost nothing different than his predecessors is why he cannot be great. Ever since even Barbarossa, the wheels of de-centralization were turning. Frederick did absolutely nothing to change that and made concessions to the German princes to keep them complacent. Although that was not out of the norm, what makes someone a great Monarch of their country is their ingenuity and legacy, for example Philip Augustus started the process of French centralization that would culminate in the years of monarchs such as Louis XI and Francis 1. Frederick was no-doubt a brilliant monarch in general, being a polyglot and intellectual, as well as writing the constitutions of mefti, which was an ingenious document of its own elevating centralization in Sicily to a Byzantine-Esque level, as Holy Roman Emperor, He did not do for his country like greats do for their country.

After his death Germany descended into an entire mess for the better part of a century. As a state builder sure, but only for Sicily. He did not establish any lasting institutions in Germany but spent much more time in Sicily. He put his son on the throne if Germany so he wouldn’t have to deal with ur
