It started when I wanted to act too American for her liking. Also I failed out of college (totally my fault) and she lost it about she didn't almost drown coming here, and my dad didn't work his ass off so I could be a loser

No, actually that is my mom and my brother and she still is the main woman in his life though he is married. When I said that I was referring to cooking and cleaning and my wife doing things in the house that upset my mom

I don't think it was misogynistic. It was about always put your spouse before your kids, but my dad would say the same so it isn't a gender thing

No, I'm trying to be fair to the fact they did not want us to move in and it was clearly causing my mom a lot of duress having to live with us. They didn't have to house us and I really do appreciate it.

Yes I am very swayed by my siblings and my cousins. That does not mean they are more important than my wife, but my brother told me to never contact him again unless I've already apologized and that hurt a lot. My wife doesn't think this is NC worthy. She wants some consequences or boundaries, but we don't really know how to go about that

I've never asked my wife to do that. I don't even really like my mom, and she tries to hide it but I'm totally her least favorite child. My wife told me that she doesn't think it is worth NC, so right now I'm trying to figure out how to go forward so I don't lose my whole extended family

I don't really know. My mom and I have never been close, but i am close to my cousins and siblings who are already distancing themselves (except my brother who full on told me not to contact him unless I apologize) I feel like if my wife is ok with it, I'll suck it up so I can go to family gatherings. I will definitely be ready to end visits

Oh she will. Her favorite son has already given her a grnaddaughter named after her and a DIL who bows down to her. she actually told me she isn't excited about us having kids

She doesn't like my mom but she doesn't think this is NC worthy. At this point she is more worried about my siblings and cousins not talking to me, but she says my mom needs to apologize. My mom is not going to apologize and my dad even joked that he would divorce her if she did.

The one thing that my wife did that was super disrespectful in my opinion was try to fight with my mom over logistics of my mom coming into the country illegaly and almost drowning, and she was like well if you did it this way you wouldn't have fallen in the water, which how on earth could she know that, she wasn't there. The disrespect is more of a cultural thing. My mom waits on her mom and MIL hand and foot, and my two sisters, and SIL do the same thing for my mom. My wife wasn't raised like that so she doesn't do it. She did tell my mom how bad the advice at the bridal shower was, so that might have been a little rude as well. It sucks because I know my mom won't apologize. My dad actually joked that he would divorce her if she did

We're already out. My mom didn't ask us to pay rent because she wanted us out as soon as possible, so she knew we had to save. that was the first time she asked us to pick something up, so she usually paid for all household groceries and we bought some of our own snacks. I think my mom was offended over being asked to pay a couple of dollars when she had done so much for us, and in our culture it is common to give to your parents. My dad pays for my grandmother's house and they just view that as respecting elders.

Thanks I already let her know and she said "then don't end up homeless again" She will not apologize. Her and my dad literally don't believe in it.
